JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Analyst: Complex Assets & Investments evaluates, executes, and supports complex asset contributions and investment-related activities, including held assets, off-menu investments, and the public investment lineup. Working under the direction of the Head of Investments, this role partners with internal and external stakeholders to support activity aligned with Vanguard Charitable's strategic growth objectives and donors' philanthropic goals. The role is responsible for underwriting complex gifts, coordinating transaction execution, and ensuring compliance with fiduciary and regulatory requirements. In addition, the analyst supports the maintenance and monitoring of the investment lineup and contributes to the ongoing portfolio management of held and off-menu assets. The position requires regular interaction with donors, external partners, and internal stakeholders to support transactions, investment discussions, and communication of outcomes.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Complex Asset Evaluation and Transaction Management (40%)

  • Evaluate complex asset contribution opportunities across private stock, private equity, hedge funds, restricted securities, and other non-cash financial assets
  • Perform financial, legal, tax, and regulatory due diligence to assess acceptability, ownership, liquidity, and risk exposure
  • Analyze portfolio fit, holding periods, and liquidation strategies; recommend risk mitigation approaches
  • Coordinate transaction execution, including negotiations, structuring, documentation, approvals, transfer mechanics, and disposition activities
  • Partner with legal counsel, tax advisors, investment managers, and other third-party specialists


Investment Lineup, Off-Menu, and Portfolio Management Support (40%)

Support maintenance and monitoring of the investment lineup across public and alternative strategies

  • Evaluating off-menu investment requests, including structure, liquidity, and alignment with investment policy
  • Conduct performance analysis and benchmarking of investments to support manager evaluation
  • Portfolio management of held and off-menu assets, including performance tracking, valuations, liquidity events, and risk exposure
  • Coordinate implementation and monitoring of investment positions


Investment & Complex Asset Reporting, Client, and Partner Support (10%)

  • Prepare reporting and analysis for leadership and investment governance bodies
  • Support materials for donor discussions and assist with investment inquiries
  • Participate in client and partner interactions to support execution and portfolio oversight
  • Coordinate communication across internal teams and external partners


Program Development and Strategic Support (10%)

  • Contribute to program scalability and continuous improvement
  • Research industry trends and best practices
  • Support internal training and knowledge sharing
