Description

The Senior Commissioning Engineer leads and managing complex commissioning, retro-commissioning, and energy-related efforts for complex buildings and systems across diverse markets, including correctional, federal, aviation, manufacturing, healthcare, laboratories, higher education, and commercial buildings. The Senior Commissioning Engineer ensures all commissioning efforts are strategically tailored to meet stringent budgetary, design, and client-specific requirements, while also providing technical guidance and mentorship to project teams and junior engineers. This position involves developing and refining best practices and standards within the commissioning discipline.
  • Lead the preparation of comprehensive commissioning plans, specifications and checklists based on Burns & McDonnell standards.
  • Critically review designs, equipment submittals, operation and maintenance manual, start-up reports, checklists, and training programs for commissioning plans and project objectives.
  • Lead and mentor teams in training operation and maintenance personnel, covering operating modes, sequence of operations, and specifics of equipment operations, and maintenance of commissioning plans.
  • Oversee the documentation of commissioning results and performance shortfalls, and collaborate with owner, operation and maintenance staff, and design and construction personnel to recommended remedial and implemented effective remedial measures.
  • Lead and manage large, complex commissioning projects and programs, providing expert guidance and technical leadership to project teams.
  • Drive the development and continuous refinement of methodologies, tools, and standards in support of an evolving and advanced commissioning practice.
  • Lead high-level meetings with key stakeholders including owner, operation and maintenance teams, and design and construction personnel to understand project goals and schedule, ensuring seamless and properly coordinated commissioning activities.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to less experienced staff.
  • Responsible for QA/QC process adherence.
  • Responsible for compliance with company and site safety policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program and 7 years of mechanical engineering experience, consulting preferred Required or
  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and 7 years of mechanical engineering experience, consulting preferred Required or
  • Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree and 6 years of mechanical engineering experience, consulting preferred Required
  • Expert knowledge in standard civil engineering techniques, principles and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
  • Proficient computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Thorough understanding of site safety procedures, including electrical safety.
  • Experience with different types of stand-alone monitoring equipment including flow meters, temperature loggers, electrical meters, and others a plus.
  • Understanding and familiarity with DOE-2, eQUEST, Energy Pro, and other modeling software a plus.
  • Ability to lead a team with a balance of positive reinforcement and constructive feedback to create an inclusive and productive work environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems, maintain creativity in identifying solutions, and apply advanced technical analysis.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Engineers in Training-EIT Certification. Preferred

Compensation

$145,000.00-210,000.00 Yearly

The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
