Talan is looking for a Senior Software Engineer - AWS / Python to support a key client in the energy trading industry.
The role focuses on designing, developing, deploying, and supporting secure, scalable cloud applications and data services supporting pre-trade, market data, pricing, and analytics. AWS is the primary cloud platform and Python the main development language.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and support cloud-native applications, APIs, microservices, and event-driven solutions on AWS.
- Develop backend services and automation in Python.
- Design services handling market data, pricing, analytics, and pre-trade workflows.
- Implement infrastructure as code using Terraform, AWS CDK, or CloudFormation.
- Build and maintain CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring, and observability.
- Apply cloud security and secure software-development best practices.
- Optimize application performance, reliability, scalability, and AWS costs.
- Lead technical discussions, code reviews, and architecture reviews.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers.
Qualifications- 10+ years of experience designing, building, and maintaining high-throughput, reliable ETL/ELT data pipelines using Python and SQL.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including services such as AWS S3, Glue, Redshift, Azure Data Factory, and BigQuery.
- Strong experience with CI/CD, Git, production support, observability, and incident management, including AWS Glue environments.
- Experience designing and developing APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures.
- Experience with Docker and container orchestration platforms, including ECS and EKS.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, AWS CDK, or CloudFormation; AWS certification preferred.
- Bachelor degree in Computer science, Engineering, Finance or Quantitative finance
Nice to Have
- Experience in energy trading, commodities, market data, pricing, or financial markets.
- Microsoft Azure experience (Alternatively AWS)
- Athena, or Redshift.
- C#/.NET or React or Angular.
- Azure certifications
