About the Role

Redhorse transforms the way government uses data and technology. To support this mission, our Cyber Analytics team is seeking a Cloud Software Engineer/Architect (Full-Stack and AI) to help design, build, and deploy enterprise-scale, AI-enabled data processing and visualization platforms.

In this role, you will take ownership of critical components across hybrid, on-premises, and multi-cloud (AWS/Azure GovCloud) environments. You will collaborate closely with government stakeholders and engineering teams to architect scalable microservices, integrate state-of-the-art AI/ML workflows (including Large Language Models and vector search), and deliver high-performance web user interfaces for data visualization and cyber analytics. Key Responsibilities

• Cloud & System Architecture: Design, build, and optimize scalable, fault-tolerant cloud architectures and microservices across AWS and Microsoft Azure (GovCloud/commercial).
• Full-Stack Engineering: Lead the end-to-end development of backend services, RESTful APIs, and modern, responsive web user interfaces (UIs) that support complex cyber data visualization.
• AI & Machine Learning Integration: Integrate cognitive services, vector databases, and Large Language Models (LLMs)/Generative AI capabilities into data processing pipelines to accelerate automated insight discovery.
• Data & Pipeline Optimization: Build and maintain high-throughput data processing workflows and distributed messaging pipelines capable of handling massive cyber datasets.
• Cyber & Security Analysis Support: Collaborate with technical specialists to support software vulnerability assessments, secure data handling, and custom tooling development.
• DevSecOps & CI/CD Automation: Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automated testing, and secure CI/CD pipelines to ensure rapid, reliable deployment across secure environments.
• Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Provide technical guidance to junior/mid-level developers, contribute to architectural reviews, and interface with federal stakeholders to align engineering efforts with mission goals.

Required Experience/Clearance

• Clearance: Active Top Secret (TS) security clearance.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related STEM discipline.
• Experience: 6+ years of progressive professional software engineering experience designing, deploying, and maintaining production-grade applications.
• Backend Mastery: Strong proficiency in at least one modern backend language such as Python, Java, C#, or C/C++, paired with shell scripting (Bash, PowerShell).
• Cloud Platforms: Hands-on experience developing, deploying, and monitoring cloud-native applications in AWS or Microsoft Azure.
• Architectural Principles: Demonstrated knowledge of distributed systems design, microservices architecture, secure API development, and database systems (SQL and NoSQL).

Desired Experience

• Cloud Certifications & Advanced Design: Prior experience leading subsystem architecture or holding certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
• Modern Web Frontends: Experience building interactive web applications and visualizations using React, Angular, Vue.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, D3.js, or Chart.js.
• Distributed Computing & Containers: Hands-on experience with technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, Apache Kafka, Apache Spark, Elasticsearch, or Redis.
• Applied AI/ML & LLMs: Familiarity with AI/LLM orchestration frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex), native cloud AI services (AWS Bedrock/SageMaker, Azure OpenAI), or machine learning libraries (PyTorch, TensorFlow).
• Cyber Tooling & Network Protocols: Familiarity with network analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark, tcpdump), OS internals, or vulnerability analysis workflows.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Practical experience with Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or Azure ARM/Bicep.

$145,000 - $185,000 a year

The salary range provided for this position represents the anticipated base salary for successful candidates. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, education, certifications, skills, security clearance level, geographic location, market conditions, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, eligible employees may participate in Redhorse's comprehensive benefits programs and may be eligible for performance-based or other incentive compensation, where applicable.
