Job DescriptionOverviewWe are seeking a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer to join our Power and Industrial Engineering team in Bothell, WA or Orlando, FL, with consideration for other U.S. locations near an AtkinsRéalis office.
In this role, you will lead and contribute to the design and delivery of complex power generation and industrial infrastructure projects, applying your technical expertise to support safe, efficient, and high‑quality outcomes.
Your role- Lead and execute civil and structural design for power generation facilities, including: concrete and structural steel support structures, foundations (including combustion and steam turbine dynamic analysis), site development, control buildings, and ancillary structures
- Deliver designs in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and AtkinsRéalis policies, including safety, environmental, QA/QC, and quality standards
- Coordinate design activities to support project schedules and successful delivery
- Support site visits, project estimating, and participation in project meetings
- Produce accurate, high‑quality designs aligned with industry standards and project specifications
- Review internal and external designs for code compliance, constructability, and best practices
- Prepare project specifications for material and equipment procurement and installation
- Address site queries, participate in construction meetings, and conduct site inspections as needed
- Maintain comprehensive design and construction documentation, including as‑built records and closeout packages
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and maintain commitments to project deliverables
- Build strong working relationships with internal teams (Procurement, Drafting, Project Management) and external stakeholders (clients, contractors, suppliers)
About you- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or closely related discipline)
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience in civil/structural engineering, with a focus on power generation (preferably thermal)
- Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required
- Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards (IBC, ASCE, ACI, AISC, OSHA)
- Proficiency with structural analysis and design tools (e.g., RISA, STAAD, SAP2000)
- Experience with dynamic analysis and seismic response preferred
- Familiarity with design and modeling tools such as SmartPlant 3D, Revit, Tekla, Civil 3D, AutoCAD preferred
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and technical documentation skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination abilities
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while taking ownership of deliverables

Additional informationExpected compensation range is between $120,000 - $160,000 annually depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
