You will be a part of our growing nuclear team where we ensure world-class project delivery through the skills of our people, methodologies, governance, and systems. Responsibilities and duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Lead and deliver civil/structural engineering design and analysis for nuclear facilities, including safety-related and non-safety-related structures
  • Prepare engineering work packages ensuring budgets and schedules are met
  • Define civil/structural project requirements as they relate to scope, cost and schedule
  • Develop and/or review civil/structural deliverables such as design basis documents, structural calculations, drawings, technical specifications, datasheets, and foundation, embedment, anchorage, and pipe/equipment support designs
  • Apply nuclear codes and standards (e.g., CSA, ACI, AISC, ASCE, ASME) in regulated environments
  • Perform seismic analysis and qualification of structures, systems and components
  • Support refurbishment and life-extension scopes, including structural condition assessments, concrete aging management, and field engineering
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, electrical, seismic, geotechnical, and construction)
  • Provide technical oversight, checking, and mentoring of junior and intermediate engineers
  • Provide input to engineering, operating and capital cost estimates
  • Actively manage relationships with clients and vendors


You bring to the role:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited university (Master's degree considered an asset)
  • A registered professional engineer in Ontario, or eligible to obtain
  • Valid security clearance for Canada, or the ability to obtain
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in project engineering specific to civil/structural design
  • Working knowledge of seismic analysis, reinforced concrete, steel design, and nuclear facility design principles
  • Experience with nuclear, power generation and other highly regulated industries, and working inside a Nuclear Quality Management System compliant with CSA N286 and/or NQA-1
  • Familiar with the grading approach for engineering and procurement activities
  • Sound understanding of design engineering codes and technical standards, specifically NBCC, OBC, CSA A23.3 (Concrete Design), CSA S16 (Steel Design), and the relevant CSA N-series standards, including CSA N291 (Requirements for Nuclear Safety-Related Structures), CSA N287 (CANDU Concrete Containment Structures), and CSA N289 (Seismic Design and Qualification). Exposure to US nuclear codes such as ACI 349 or ASCE 43 is a plus, but not required
  • Experience with STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, GTSTRUDL, ANSYS, SAFE, or similar civil/structural analysis software
  • Experience with construction and commissioning
  • Familiarity with the Canadian nuclear industry and clients such as Ontario Power Generation, Bruce Power and Canadian Nuclear Laboratories
  • Experience with Engineering Change Control (ECC) processes within the Canadian nuclear industry, including CANDU station configuration management systems
  • Experience with refurbishment / life-extension projects - structural condition assessment, concrete aging management (alkali-aggregate reaction, rebar corrosion, prestress loss), and containment structural integrity testing - considered an asset
  • Preference for those with DTL or DE qualifications at Canadian nuclear facilities


Base salary range: $131,000 - $181,000
