Position SummaryDepartmentCentralized Lending
Reviews and analyzes consumer Direct and Indirect loan applications and makes sound lending decisions based on Federal Regulations, Operating Procedures and Board Policies. Serves as a senior team member in the department by providing direction and training to Consumer Loan Officers/Underwriters. Assists with performance evaluations. Communicates loan decisions directly to team members, Members and dealers. Interaction with the Credit Union's dealer network will be a major role and responsibility.
Essential Duties- Reviews Direct and Indirect loan applications completed and referred by various application channels (branches, Communications Center, approved indirect dealers, mobile app and the internet). Using the on-line loan application system (LoansPQ) approves or denies loans based on creditworthiness (credit), ability to repay (capacity), collateral and character.
- Serves as a lead team member in the department by providing direction and assistance to other team members. Provides assistance in team member development.
- May be required to perform dealer visits to underwrite, attract, and retain partnered dealers for increased loan volume.
- Maintains awareness of industry trends to make recommendations for expanded underwriting guidelines or pricing changes.
- This position has authority to make loan approval decisions based upon individual discretion and judgment within authorized lending limits.
- Discusses disputed loan decisions, including alternate solutions for the Member. Researches and resolves Member disputes in all aspects of Member goodwill and any applicable Federal or State Regulations.
- Explains loan programs to Members and Indirect Lending Dealers, evaluates their needs, and recommends loan options.
- Establishes the terms and conditions of an approved loan and reviews them with the Member and/or indirect Lending Dealers.
- Maintains a working knowledge and understanding of the Consumer Lending Operating Procedures.
- Provides consultative services to Members regarding credit union products and services by assessing the Member's needs and addressing their concerns.
- Analyzes department needs and recommends improvements in policies, procedures and workflow.
- Prepares the monthly work schedule to the department.
- Oversees all Loan Officer/Underwriter queues and ensures that loan applications are evenly disbursed and loan decisions are rendered within set credit union goals.
- Prepares productivity/activity reports using Word/Excel programs.
- All team members must comply with regulatory compliance and assigned training requirements including but not limited to BSA regulations corresponding to their specific job duties. This includes the SAFE Act. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary and other employment related actions.

Supervisory Responsibilities- No direct supervisory experience, however, will participate in lead position in the absence of Centralized Consumer Lending management.

Language SkillsAbility to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to Members and other Team Members at the organization.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute dividends and interest.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form.
