Description
General Description:

Under the direction of the Parks and Recreation Director. Directs all older adult programs for the Reynoldsburg Senior Center.

Examples of Duties
Essential Functions of Work
  • Directs all senior center programs (e.g. trips, exercise, crafts, cards, etc)
  • Serves as the liaison between the Senior Center Association and the City of Reynoldsburg
  • Monitors and oversees events from preparation and set-up through tear down
  • Recruits and schedules guest speakers/performers and coordinate selection of instructors for classes
  • Plans, facilitates, and oversees daily activities, trips, and memberships (e.g. schedule volunteers, field/shopping trips, drive bus when needed, etc)
  • Communicates with public regarding senior programs and promotes memberships with outside venues
  • Provides orientation for new members
  • Supervises senior center staff and volunteers (e.g. assigns/reviews work, approves leave requests/time sheets, recommends discipline, analyzes staffing requirements, interviews applicants for employment, makes hiring recommendations)
  • Assists with preparing the annual Senior Center budget
  • Requests funding via purchase orders
  • Oversees the day to day financial and membership needs of the Senior Center, including the Reynoldsburg Senior Center Association
  • Prepares and maintains various reports for senior center activities
  • Maintains inventory of Senior Center supplies and place orders as needed
  • Responsible for writing bi-monthly newsletter, preparing forms, and maintenance of computer records
  • Ensures the overall general maintenance and cleanliness of the Senior Center facility and notifying the corresponding department if needed
  • Provides written information to Director of Parks and Recreation
  • Remains informed of current developments and procedures pertinent to duties
  • Performs research on aging and trends for future seminars
  • Participates in staff development activities and attends staff meetings/conferences
  • Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions
  • Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance
  • Performs other related duties as needed or assigned

Typical Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

Education
  • Possession of a Bachelor's Degree in recreation administration, adult learning, gerontology or related field
  • Three (3) to Five (5) years progressively responsible experience in recreation programming including supervisory experience
  • OR any equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Valid Ohio Driver's License
