Full Job Description
The NA GPO External Fulfillment team** owns the end-to-end procurement strategy for Amazon's 3PL fulfillment network in North America - a portfolio spanning across sort, non-sort, AWD, TNS, and specialty building types. We negotiate, structure, and govern contracts that directly impact Amazon's ability to scale capacity, control costs, and deliver for customers.

We're looking for a **Category Manager** based in New York City who thrives in ambiguity, moves fast with imperfect information, and can hold their own in high-stakes commercial negotiations with sophisticated logistics providers. This isn't catalog procurement - this is strategic sourcing at the intersection of supply chain, finance, and operations where your decisions directly shape Amazon's fulfillment capacity and cost structure.

What You'll Do

- Own supplier relationships and commercial outcomes for a portfolio of 3PL contracts worth $200M+ in committed spend - driving lowest total cost of ownership while maintaining network reliability

- Lead complex sourcing events** (RFI, RFQ, RFP) for new site launches, contract renewals, and extensions - managing competitive tension across a concentrated supplier base

- Negotiate multi-year, multi-million dollar agreements** with C-suite counterparts at global logistics companies - structuring deals that balance cost, performance, flexibility, and risk

- Build and defend business cases** (CARs) for internal executive approval - translating complex commercial structures into clear, data-backed narratives that drive executive decisions

- Develop cost models and benchmarks** that compare 3PL performance against 1P operations - identifying value gaps and negotiation leverage

- Manage claims, KPI governance, and commercial disputes - holding suppliers accountable to contractual commitments while maintaining productive long-term partnerships

- Influence cross-functional stakeholders** across Operations, Finance, Real Estate, and Legal - aligning competing priorities to deliver sourcing outcomes on tight timelines

- Drive continuous improvement** in sourcing processes, contract structures, and supplier performance mechanisms - building scalable frameworks for a growing network

- Leverage data, automation, and AI tools to accelerate analysis, improve forecasting accuracy, and create decision-support mechanisms for leadership

What You'll Bring

- Comfort operating in a fast-paced, high-ambiguity environment where priorities shift and you're expected to deliver anyway

- A bias for action paired with sound judgment - knowing when to move fast and when to slow down and get alignment

- Strong written communication - you'll write documents that go to VPs and SVPs, and they need to be crisp

- Intellectual curiosity about logistics, supply chain economics, and how fulfillment networks actually work

- The confidence to push back on senior stakeholders (internal and external) when the data supports a different position

Key job responsibilities
• Drive appropriate commercial relationships with suppliers, with a principal objective of achieving the lowest total cost of ownership that meets the business' goals, supported by a culture of continuous improvement with cost & performance benchmarks in use.
• Lead sourcing engagements and competitive bidding (RFI, RFQ, and RFP). Achieve cost savings through projects including bidding and commercial negotiations.
• Leverage proven negotiation strategies to deliver against business objectives and achieve sustainable relationships with strategic suppliers pertaining to Amazon Operations.
• Influence suppliers' processes, technology decisions, and policies in ways that are mutually beneficial and sustainable for both organizations by leveraging the growth of Amazon's spend.
• Negotiate and implement supplier agreements/contracts by working with cross-functional stakeholders and suppliers to reach agreement on contract terms and conditions.
• Analyze and determine cost reduction opportunities by leveraging volumes, optimizing the supplier base and reducing total cost of ownership.
• Analyze and understand data to create accurate forecasting.
• Adapt to a fast paced, constantly changing environment.
• Work with our team and business partners for the creation and continuous improvement.
• Develop mechanisms and metrics to track supplier performance related to forecasting, delivery, quality, and cost.
• Keys to success in this role include sound judgment and excellent written/verbal communication skills
• The candidate should be able to extract insights from data, synthesize, and communicate clearly appropriate triggers and actions.
