As a Senior Capability Manager, you will lead the strategy, development, and delivery of capabilities that drive business growth and improve employee and consumer experiences. In this role, you will navigate the enterprise, build strong relationships across Optum and partner with business stakeholders, subject matter experts, and development teams to define, prioritize, and deliver solutions that meet shared business needs. You will be expected to think strategically and creatively, translate vision into actionable capabilities and features, and help guide solutions from concept through execution. Working closely with leadership, you will also help make product decisions in alignment with enterprise strategies and governance, while operating independently, communicating effectively, and managing ambiguity across a complex stakeholder environment.
You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.
Primary Responsibilities:- Lead capability strategy and define roadmaps across multiple lines of business by aligning market, business, operational, and customer needs, with a focus on delivering scalable, high-value solutions
- Translate business needs into capabilities, requirements, and solution recommendations that support governance approval, technology development, and operational execution
- Collaborate with business leaders, subject matter experts, development teams, and external partners throughout the capability lifecycle to refine strategy, priorities, and delivery plans
- Manage issues, risks, deliverables, and cross-functional workstreams by engaging the right resources and recommending clear actions to maintain execution quality
- Ensure delivery of measurable business value by connecting features and user stories to business goals, benefits, and success metrics such as OKRs and KPIs
- Support technology evaluation and selection by representing business requirements and helping identify tools and solutions that align with enterprise technology direction
- Communicate capability strategy, development status, customer success, and business value clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders, influencing alignment and informed decision-making
- Participate in agile ceremonies and drive high-quality execution across organizational lines to support delivery, adoption, and continuous improvement

Required Qualifications:- 5+ years of product or capability management experience within a large matrix organization
- Experience working with customers and translating business needs into product vision, feature definitions, user stories, capabilities, and market requirements
- Experience managing capability roadmaps and executing both strategic and tactical direction in alignment with organizational vision
- Experience communicating ideas clearly and concisely to leadership, including VP-level stakeholders, and to technical teams
- Experience working effectively with individuals with high technical acumen, including development teams and architects
- Intermediate proficiency or greater in Agile tools (e.g., Aha!, Rally) and Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, Outlook, OneNote, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Visio
Preferred Qualifications:- Agile Product Manager and/or Scrum Master Certification
- Experience with XML, JSON, SQL, VBA, and/or Python
- Experience with data quality, stewardship, and governance
- Experience building process flows and customer journey mapping
- Experience with managed business rules, predictive data models, and / or machine learning capabilities
- Experience using AI tools
- Knowledge of RxCLAIM, RxCOMET, and/or similar OptumRx healthcare platforms
- Familiarity with the role of a Pharmacy Benefits Manager (PBM) within the healthcare system

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $112,700 to $193,200 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
