  • Recommend best practices for instrumentation upgrades and installations.
  • Mentor and train junior technicians in calibration duties.

About the Role:
As a Senior Calibration Technician, you'll play a key role in supporting BioPharma and Life Sciences clients by ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and performance of critical instrumentation systems. You'll lead calibration, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities across a wide range of complex equipment, helping keep GMP manufacturing environments running safely and efficiently. This role also offers the opportunity to shape best practices, support equipment qualifications, and mentor junior technicians.

Here's a glimpse into your day to day:
  • Maintain good working condition of calibration standards
  • Complete calibration and service work in accordance with in-house procedures or site procedures
  • Provide technical support for calibration processes and procedures
  • Create calibration procedures
  • Create and/or follow Monthly Calibration Schedules and coordinate scheduling with equipment owners.
  • Complete ICRS/Calibration Certificates and/or approving Certificates.
  • Performs calibration of instrumentation necessary for maintaining production equipment, laboratory equipment and other auxiliary measurement systems.
  • Perform calibrations of instruments approved for use on: Autoclaves, Incubators, Freezers, Refrigerators, BMS/BAS Systems, Bioreactors, AHU's, CIP/SIP Systems, RODI Systems, WFI Systems, Utility Systems, and Fermenters.
  • Assists in qualification of equipment / facilities as needed.
  • Recommend upgrades or best installation practices to existing instrumentation and controls systems were applicable.
  • Mentor and train Jr. Instrument Technicians
  • Perform other duties as required.

You'll be a perfect fit if you have:
  • High school diploma or equivalent. Associates degree or certification from trade school is strongly preferred.
  • Have a minimum of 5 years experience working as an Instrument, Metrology, or Calibration Tech within related industry.
  • ISA CCST certification is preferred, but not required.
  • Knowledge of servicing I&C equipment within Biopharmaceutical site is preferred[SP1.1].
  • Advanced knowledge of performing calibrations of instruments, including autoclaves, incubators, freezers, refrigerators, BMS/BAS systems, Bioreactors, AHU's, CIP/SIP systems, RODI systems, WFI Systems, utility systems, and fermenters.
  • Advanced knowledge of performing measurements for: analytical, pressure, volumetric flow, mass flow, ultrasonic flow, level, temperature, local controllers, LEL.
  • Experienced with creating and implementing Monthly Calibration Schedule.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position as necessary to complete assigned tasks.
  • The person in this position needs to frequently move about client's facilities and offices to access equipment and complete tasks.
  • Consistently operate instrumentation standards, computers, calculator, copy machine, printer and other devices to efficiently complete tasks.
  • Consistently ascend and descend portable and fixed ladders, scaffolding and other equipment used to reach equipment at various levels of height some of which maybe in excess of 25 feet in a safe manner.
  • Must be able to ascend and descend a large quantity of stairways at any given time.
  • Frequently move tools and equipment weighing up to 50lbs across client facilities as needed to complete tasks.
  • Occasionally lift and move equipment in excess of 100lbs in a safe manner.
  • Must be able to work in outdoor weather conditions as needed.
  • Support clients in the Baltimore-Washington DC Metro Area with occasional travel to four state coverage area, DE/PA/VA/NJ

Compensation and Benefits:
  • Pay: $35-55 Hourly (depending on experience)
