PurposeDivergent is seeking an experienced and motivated analysis engineer to support the next generation of industry-leading vehicle development. We're committed to transforming vehicles' structural systems away from traditional manufacturing by using new materials and new technologies. To do this, we need a forward-looking and innovative engineer who will help shape the future of industrial manufacturing.
Senior CAE Engineer will build and manage FE models of structural components or full system architectures for a variety of vehicle platforms and perform detailed engineering analysis on structural components and systems using CAE programs. This position requires to work closely with inter-group engineers to understand manufacturing/design capabilities and limitations to ensure proposed design changes can be efficiently produced and assembled. Collaborating successfully in a team environment is essential to ensure cross-functional requirements are met while achieving safety targets.
The Role- Build up and analyze FE Models of Node™-based vehicle structures for aerospace flight applications or automotive use cases including validation using hand calculations and optimization.
- Apply cutting-edge FE/CAE methodology including nonlinear geometry / nonlinear material / implicit and explicit techniques to address complicated multi-physics problems.
- Present technical analysis summary/reports efficiently at meetings and to other relevant engineers.
- Create, refine, and execute new technical solutions for aerospace structures to support external customer programs and joint development efforts.
- Work collaboratively in a team environment within the DAPS Product Engineering team and cross-functionally with other disciplines to efficiently design and release structures that are optimized for mass, efficient production, and assembly.
- Work cross-functionally to implement cost reduction, methods and product improvements, and support prototype and production build activities.
Basic Qualifications- Ability to lawfully access information and technology that is subject to US export controls
- BS or MS in Mechanical / Aerospace Engineering.
- 4+ years of experience in aerospace / automotive structural analysis.
- 4+ years of experience in analysis software packages such as Nastran, Optistruct, ABAQUS and/or LS-Dyna.
- 4+ years of experience in non-linear, dynamic stiffness, and durability analyses of structural components
- In-depth industrial experiences in the nonlinear analysis problems at least one of the followings: Explicit Full vehicle crash Analysis / Cohesive Zone Adhesive Analysis / Flutter Analysis / Random-Vibration test-correlation / Nonlinear Thermal Structural Analysis.
- Proficient with Altair Hypermesh or Beta CAE ANSA preprocessors.
- Ability to utilize hand calculations to supplement analysis results.
- Outstanding comprehension of solid mechanics.
- Solid understanding of linear/nonlinear behaviors of advanced materials (composites, adhesives, metals) to achieve lightweight structural solutions.
- Solid interpersonal skills and motivated self-starter who can manage personal workload and execution to tight schedule.
- Predominantly operates in an office environment. Some periods of time may be spent in conference room and indoor/outdoor for physical test observation for correlation work.
Preferred Qualifications- Material characterization and component / system-level CAE - physical test correlation experience is a plus.
- Experience with automotive full vehicle homologation procedure.
- Experience with aerospace load applications and MIL-STDs.
- Experience interfacing with engineering, testing, and manufacturing groups to understand system designs and the associated constraints.
- Supported or engaged directly with DoD airworthiness stakeholders such as Air Force Test Center (AFTC) or FAA.
