Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Buyer – Plastics to lead strategic sourcing initiatives for plastic injection molded components. This role is responsible for managing global supplier relationships, driving cost optimization, and supporting new program launches within a complex, fast-paced automotive environment.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience in plastic injection molded components (Tier 2), with the ability to influence both material strategy and supplier performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Own global sourcing strategy for plastic injection molded components
- Lead supplier selection, negotiation, and contract management across regional and global suppliers
- Drive cost reduction initiatives through material strategy, supplier consolidation, and commercial negotiations
- Manage relationships with Tier 2 and Tier 3 suppliers, ensuring performance in quality, delivery, and cost
- Support new product launches, ensuring materials and components are sourced and delivered on time
- Partner cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to align sourcing strategies
- Monitor market trends, raw material indices, and supply risks to inform sourcing decisions
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and supplier standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field
- 5–7+ years of experience in strategic sourcing or commodity management within automotive or manufacturing
- Direct experience sourcing plastic injection molded components
- Strong understanding of global supply chains, supplier negotiation, and cost modeling
- Experience working with Tier 1 suppliers and/or OEM-facing environments
- Demonstrated ability to deliver measurable cost savings and supplier performance improvements
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
Preferred Experience
- Experience managing global plastic suppliers
- Familiarity with tooling, molding processes, or material selection
- Exposure to high-volume manufacturing environments
