Job Title: Senior Buyer

POSITION Summary

Our company seeks a charismatic, self-motivated buyer to purchase various commodities. As a Senior Buyer for the organization, the buyer will research, evaluate, and buy products to meet our daily operational needs.

KEY Responsibilities
  • Issue requests for quotes/proposals (RFQ/RFP) and select best source consistent with cost, quality, and delivery requirements
  • Responsible for purchasing raw materials required for production and/or additional items in support of operational activities
  • Address over-shipments, delivery shortages, changes in quantity, delivery dates and prices, and report changes to the interested parties in a timely manner as required.
  • Seek new suppliers based on the best price, quality, availability, reliability, and customer support
  • Develop strategic vendor relationships
  • Maintain accuracy of item master data within SAP, including but not limited to lead time, pricing, supplier information, thorough purchase order documentation, etc.
  • Maintain purchase orders to ensure accurate quantities, pricing, and delivery while thoroughly documenting any required changes within.
  • Effectively coordinate and manage Product Change Notifications
  • Negotiate and manage long-term pricing agreements for goods and services
  • Create detailed cost analysis across multiple suppliers and units of measure
  • Complete make vs. buy analysis
  • Strong negotiation skills with proven track record
  • Organize meetings and visits with key suppliers and cross-functional teams, trade shows
  • Organize and conduct Quarterly Business Reviews with key suppliers
  • Stay in tune with commodity spend as well as spend by supplier
  • Keep abreast of industry trends and market risks
  • Manage, track and adhere to project timelines/deadlines
  • Negotiate payment terms and credit limits with suppliers
  • Manage formal project trackers
  • Drive cost savings initiatives through overarching supply agreements
  • Develop Risk mitigation plans
  • Review contracts and MSAs and negotiate with supplier prior to sending them to Legal for implementation
  • Identify opportunities for long-term supplier agreements and execute accordingly
  • Oversee material master data and commodity maintenance
  • Develop strong relationships with cross function teams and key stakeholders
  • Focus on sustainability
  • Contribute to centralized data storage for continued use and future reference
  • Strategic thinking and planning
  • Other assignments as required


QUALIFICATIONS
  • BA or BS in Business Administration, Operations Planning or a related field preferable
  • 10+ years of related procurement experience including purchasing, inventory control, contract negotiation, supply management, supplier relationships
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age (or a minimum of 18 years of age in CT, PA and WV).
  • Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Must have patience, tact, enthusiasm and a cheerful disposition
  • Ability to function independently, be flexible, display personal integrity, and work effectively with all employees and departments
  • MBA, CPM, or APICS certification desirable
  • Contract manufacturing experience beneficial
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of purchasing procedures
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proactive self-starter that requires minimal instruction and guidance
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
  • Observant, analytical, inquisitive and attentive
  • Effective organization and time management skills
  • Extensive ERP/MRP experience
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to respond consistently with a high degree of initiative to resolve issues or complex problems that may arise
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong presentation and listening skills
  • Ability to work and perform well under pressure
  • Highly functional and multi-tasking
  • Able to compose slide decks and present to high-level executives
