The Senior Procurement Buyer plays a critical leadership role in sourcing, planning, and procuring materials, components, and services essential for highprecision aerospace, defense, and electronics manufacturing. This role ensures alignment between procurement strategy, production requirements, regulatory compliance, supplier performance, and business goals. The position requires a proactive, analytical, and strategic mindset, with a focus on reliability, quality, cost optimization, and risk mitigation within a highly regulated environment. The role will provide support to sustain existing operations and develop new products for the site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies that support aerospace, defense, and electronics manufacturing operations.
- Lead supplier selection, qualification, negotiations, and performance management, including suppliers supporting ITAR, DFARS, and AS9100 requirements.
- Place and manage purchase orders, confirm deliveries, expedite materials, and maintain supplier relationships to support customer commitments.
- Coordinate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure material availability and production schedule attainment.
- Drive inventory optimization through ERP/MRP best practices, Kanban systems, Lean replenishment strategies, and inventory reduction initiatives.
- Perform market analysis and supplier risk assessments to proactively address supply continuity challenges.
- Partner with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Product Management, Planning, and Customer Service teams to support production readiness and new product introductions.
- Lead supplier performance reviews, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives to improve quality, delivery, and responsiveness.
- Support resolution of supplier quality issues and ensure compliance with company, customer, and industry requirements.
- Analyze and improve key supply chain metrics, including supplier OTD, PPV, inventory turns, and cost savings.
- Identify and lead cost reduction and VAVE initiatives that enhance operational and financial performance.
- Resolve purchasing and supplier-related invoice discrepancies and support monthly planning activities.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Business or related field, experience in manufacturing, preferably, planning OR relevant manufacturing experience.
- 5+ years of progressive procurement or supply chain experience in aerospace, defense, or electronics manufacturing.
- Strong technical background, combination of education and work experience.
- Ability to read blueprints, technical specifications, and manufacturing drawings.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP/Kanban systems (Oracle preferred).
- Strong analytic skills, a high degree of Microsoft Excel knowledge is required.
- Good organizational skills and problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrated negotiation, analytical, and supplierdevelopment skills.
- Ability to analyze data, form strategic plans and execute at a tactical level.
- Understanding of concepts in a Lean Manufacturing Environment and Kanban Supply Chains.
- Preferred understanding of AS9100, ITAR, DFARS, and other regulatory requirements.
- Self-starter, change agent, and problem solver with a strong sense of urgency.

SALARY RANGE:
$90,000-$100,000
