Overview

We are seeking a full-time Senior Buyer Indirect Materials and Services at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the acquisition, negotiation, and execution of major agreements for complex materials and services.

Essential Functions
  • Understand the various needs, strategies and objectives of their customers and suppliers affected by the agreements
  • Manage the Request for Proposal (RFP) process from supplier sourcing, RFP creation, analysis and award
  • Establish and manage an effective process for obtaining required departmental input on agreement requirements and issues
  • Review and analyze major non-standard agreements provided by suppliers
  • Conduct gap analysis and recommendations to management for any discrepancies
  • Interface with Legal Department to review agreement terms and any legal issues in agreements and obtain Legal Department's approval or recommendation prior to management acceptance or approval of the agreement
  • Facilitate meetings and activities for any open actions as related to the approved agreements
  • Seek consensus and closure from internal customers on the action list and gap closure plan
  • Review agreements, addenda and renewals and provide updates/summaries to management on the changes
  • Support Global Sourcing Team as needed on global agreements
  • Prepare cost analysis relating to agreements and their impact on the business
  • Develop, negotiate, and administer agreements, including negotiation of specifications, statement of work, price, delivery and other provisions with suppliers and subcontractors
  • Knowledge of department processes and procedures, work instructions and training requirements for the Purchasing Department in support of ISO9000, environmental programs, international trade compliance requirements for supply management
  • Mentor assigned procurement associates in support of departmental training, work instructions, processes, and procedures
  • Provide excellent customer service by fostering open communication among Garmin teams and associates
  • Act as a liaison between the customer and the suppliers
  • Develop and manage supplier relationships in support of Garmin's mission statement
  • Support all procurement activities as assigned during absence of peers or management

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree AND a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Must demonstrate strong verbal, written, negotiating and analytical skills
  • Must demonstrate a proven track record of the ability to prioritize, organize and multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and challenging environment to effectively meet deadlines
  • Must be a motivated self starter
  • Must have a demonstrated high level of interpersonal and communication skills to work across functional and organizational lines with uncompromising ethics
  • Must possess proven ability to negotiate substantial and complex contracts
  • Demonstrated ability to assess supplier capabilities
  • Demonstrated proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Must possess previous leadership experience

Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science Degree and 4 years of Procurement experience with a focus in manufacturing and distribution equipment
  • Strong experience negotiating and contracting technical services
  • Experience negotiating global enterprise agreements
    APICS Certification (CPIM) or Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.)
  • Oracle experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Management, Operations or Material preferred or equivalent experience or
  • Master's Degree
  • Previous supervisory or team facilitator experience
