Full Job Description
Summary The Senior Buyer/Purchasing Agent coordinates activities involved with procuring goods and services such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, and advertising, for Grayhill. This position is vital to the flow of materials and finished products. The Senior Buyer/ Purchasing Agent must meet the demands of balancing cost efficiencies and inventory, with production needs of the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, other duties may be assigned:
  • Review requisitions and obtain quotations from approved suppliers.
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders in accordance with the hard demand, forecast and safety stock requirements on the Grayhill system.
  • Review and take action upon "exception" alerts generated by the Grayhill planning system.
  • Manage suppliers on time delivery performance utilizing historical data and current open order reports.
  • Use economic order quantities to determine optimum lot sizes and pricing.
  • Approve invoice exception payments based on completion of a purchase order.
  • Analyze data sets based on purchased part type, vendor, etc and utilize the information to provide recommendations on most cost effective and efficient procurement strategies.
  • Stay current with supplier capacity, and advise appropriate departments when supplier cannot meet Grayhill schedules and/or technical requirements.
  • Act as a liaison between suppliers and Grayhill; communicate all contract and design changes as appropriate.
  • Update PO information on the Grayhill planning system and notify schedulers as well as suppliers of modifications.
  • Resolve conflicts with suppliers involving "hot list" priorities.
  • Provide suppliers with updated forecasting reports as appropriate.
  • Discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with Quality Control, users, vendors and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action and/or process RMAs.
  • Process engineering change notices, update Purchase Orders and controls and suppliers.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory turns on managed purchased parts

Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Strong communication skills and competency working with internal personnel and external vendors.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years' experience in direct purchasing or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience with ERP systems

Preferred Skills/ Experience
  • Experience with SAP preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of Electronics or Electro Mechanical Industry
