About the Role

We're looking for a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst to lead and define the analytics function at Canary. You'll be the go-to expert on all things data and analytics - owning the strategy, infrastructure, and outputs that the business relies on to make decisions. You'll work across every function and directly with enterprise customers, shaping not just what we measure but how we think about data as a company.

What You'll Do

  • Own the analytics strategy and roadmap - define the vision for how Canary uses data, what we measure, and where we invest in analytics capabilities
  • Be the company's analytics expert - serve as the authority on our data, metrics, and analytical best practices across all teams
  • Lead the architecture of our analytics platform in partnership with data engineering, including tooling, data modeling, and warehouse design decisions
  • Build and own the data pipelines and business analytics that power reporting and decision-making across the organization
  • Design and maintain dashboards and analyses that give leadership and cross-functional teams clear visibility into business performance
  • Drive strategic conversations with product, sales, go-to-market teams, and leadership - proactively identifying opportunities and risks in the data, not waiting to be asked
  • Work directly with enterprise customers on data feeds, custom reporting, and analytics integrations
  • Own and evolve our KPIs and metrics frameworks - ensure the company has a consistent, well-understood set of metrics and that teams are aligned on definitions and methodology
  • Establish and maintain comprehensive data documentation and a metrics source of truth - build the processes and culture that make data accessible and understandable to everyone at Canary
  • Set and enforce data quality standards through governance practices, validation, and cross-team accountability
  • Enable self-serve analytics across the organization by building intuitive data models, tooling, and documentation that reduce dependency on ad-hoc requests

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in a BI, analytics, or analytics engineering role, with a track record of owning an analytics function end-to-end
  • Excellent SQL skills and deep experience with data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift)
  • Experience designing and maintaining dashboards in modern BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker, Metabase)
  • Strong understanding of data pipeline tooling and ETL/ELT concepts
  • Proven ability to translate ambiguous business problems into structured analytical frameworks and actionable recommendations
  • Strong communication and presentation skills - comfortable engaging with executive leadership and enterprise customers alike
  • A knack for documentation and knowledge sharing - you believe that data is only useful if people understand it
  • Opinionated about data quality and governance, with a track record of raising the bar
  • Experience working cross-functionally and influencing decisions without direct authority
  • Self-directed and comfortable with ambiguity - you don't need someone to tell you what to analyze next

Compensation

Target cash compensation ranges from $140,000-$180,000, including a fixed annual salary and a performance-based bonus paid quarterly.

This role also includes a stock option grant, subject to board approval.

Actual compensation will be commensurate with the candidate's skill level, experience, and specific work location.

We also work hard to ensure Canary is a fun and exciting place to work! Here are some of the additional benefits:

Canary Days: As a company we want to ensure that the team has time to recharge. Each month we provide company wide days off to ensure there is at least one extended weekend or day off.

Self Improvement Club: We meet each month and share our personal goals for the month. Each individual is provided a budget towards any purchases that help us achieve these goals.

Professional Development Chats: We provide budget to help drive cross functional professional development conversations across the organization.

Travel Reimbursement: Team members are able to visit our offices across New York, San Francisco or Dallas when they choose, and are provided a travel stipend for doing so. Spend time working with the team in their office, and use the rest of your time exploring a new city!

Personal Travel Reimbursement: If you stay at a hotel that Canary works with, we provide a credit towards your stay.

About Canary Technologies

One Canada Square is a skyscraper in Canary Wharf, London. It was completed in 1991 and is the third tallest building in the United Kingdom at 770 feet above ground level containing 50 storeys. One Canada Square was designed by César Pelli with Adamson Associates and Frederick Gibberd Coombes. The building is clad with stainless steel. One of the predominant features of the building is the pyramid roof, which contains a flashing aircraft warning light, a rare feature for buildings in the United Kingdom. The distinctive pyramid pinnacle is 800 feet above sea level. One Canada Square is primarily used for offices, though there are some retail units on the lower ground floor. There is no observation floor. It is a prestigious location for offices and as of October 2017 was completely let. The building is recognised as a London landmark, and it has gained much attention through film, television, and other media as one of the tallest buildings in the United Kingdom.
