Full Job Description
Our challenge

Synechron is seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst - Capital Markets Data to support data-domain validation, ownership, lineage and product classification across a complex banking environment. The successful candidate will combine strong capital-markets knowledge with practical experience in data analysis, data governance, regulatory reporting or middle-office operations. Candidate will work closely with business-domain and IT owners to validate catalogue entries, define domain boundaries, assess data dependencies and resolve ownership questions. This role requires someone who can challenge technical findings on business grounds, facilitate discussions with senior stakeholders and drive clear decisions in situations where ownership or accountability is contested.

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Mississauga, ON is CAD $115k - CAD $130k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities:
  • Validate the catalogue item by item against business reality; resolve gaps, duplicates and misclassifications in the inventory's starting-hypothesis domain tags.
  • Classify each item by type and authority: domain-owned data product, shared capability, or operational application outside the analytical mesh.
  • Corroborate or dispute the dependency and lineage findings using knowledge of how the business moves the data.
  • Establish domain semantics and boundary definitions for the assigned product area, in language the business owners will sign.
  • Apply the ownership rules and drive contested-item resolution to a decision, escalating to DACI only where genuinely irreducible.
  • Identify the consuming domains behind every extract feed and downstream application in the assigned area and specify the contract obligations that follow.
  • Facilitate validation workshops with named business-domain and IT owners; document findings to a standard that survives review.

Requirements:
  • 10+ years in capital markets, of which at least 5 in a data-adjacent role: data ownership, business data analysis, regulatory reporting, or middle-office data management. Pure front-office trading experience without the data dimension will not work here.
  • Deep product knowledge in at least one of the four coverage tracks above and working knowledge of a second.
  • Ability to read a data dictionary, a lineage map and a stored-procedure findings matrix, and to dispute them on business grounds.
  • Workshop facilitation with front-office, Reg Ops, Risk and Finance stakeholders in a large bank; the ability to get a decision out of a room that would rather defer.

Preferred, but not required:
  • Hands-on exposure to Murex, Loan IQ, ACBS, Axiom SL or comparable capital-markets and regulatory-reporting platforms.
  • Prior participation in a data mesh or data-product domain decomposition.
  • Understanding of critical data element definition and attestation for regulatory reporting.

We offer:
  • A multinational organization with 58 offices in 22 countries and the possibility to work abroad.
  • 15 days (3 weeks) of paid annual leave plus an additional 10 days of personal leave (floating days and sick days).
  • A comprehensive insurance plan including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and long-term disability.
  • Flexible hybrid policy.
  • RRSP with employer's contribution up to 4%.
  • A higher education certification policy.
  • On-demand Udemy for Business for all Synechron employees with free access to more than 5000 curated courses.
  • Coaching opportunities with experienced colleagues from our Financial Innovation Labs (FinLabs) and Center of Excellences (CoE) groups.
  • Cutting edge projects at the world's leading tier-one banks, financial institutions and insurance firms.
  • A truly diverse, fun-loving and global work culture.
