We are currently seeking a Senior Business Analyst / Mainframe Modernization Lead - Remote US Position

NTT DATAis seeking a Senior Business Analyst with strong Mainframe modernization experience to lead the assessment, planning, and execution of the XICS transformation program. This role will analyze the current Mainframe-based policy print and correspondence ecosystem, define future-state solutions, develop a modernization roadmap, and ultimately transition into a Program Management role overseeing delivery.

The ideal candidate combines deep knowledge of Mainframe technologies with strong business analysis, stakeholder management, and program leadership skills.

Ideal Candidate

A hands-on modernization leader who can understand complex Mainframe environments, engage business and technical stakeholders, assess legacy technologies, define future-state solutions, and lead the program from discovery through implementation. The candidate should be equally comfortable reviewing COBOL programs, facilitating executive workshops, and managing large-scale transformation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Discovery & Assessment
  • Lead assessment of legacy Mainframe document generation and print solutions, including XICS, COBOL, Assembler, VSAM, DB2, batch processing, and related integrations.
  • Develop a comprehensive inventory of applications, programs, jobs, forms, business rules, interfaces, and dependencies.
  • Analyze policy print, billing, correspondence, endorsements, notices, and customer communication processes across multiple business units.
  • Document current-state architecture, process flows, operational risks, and modernization constraints.
  • Facilitate workshops with business, architecture, application, infrastructure, and operations teams.


Modernization Strategy
  • Evaluate target-state solutions and replacement options for legacy print and correspondence platforms.
  • Define business, functional, operational, and technical requirements.
  • Develop future-state architecture recommendations, migration approaches, and implementation roadmaps.
  • Support technology evaluations involving CCM platforms, document management, AWS, APIs, and modernization tools.
  • Build executive-level business cases, funding requests, and governance materials.


Program Leadership
  • Transition into Program Manager role during implementation.
  • Manage project plans, risks, dependencies, stakeholder communications, and governance activities.
  • Coordinate business, development, architecture, cloud, infrastructure, vendor, and testing teams.
  • Support architecture reviews, funding approvals, and executive decision making.


Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of Business Analysis, Project Management, or Program Management experience.
  • Strong Mainframe background with experience in:
  • IBM z/VSE and/or z/OS
  • COBOL and Assembler
  • JCL, VSAM, DB2
  • Batch processing environments
  • Experience with Mainframe modernization and legacy application transformation initiatives.
  • Strong requirements gathering, process analysis, and documentation skills.
  • Proven ability to drive discovery efforts and translate findings into actionable roadmaps.
  • Excellent executive communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.


Preferred Experience
  • Mainframe modernization and platform migration programs
  • OpenLegacy or API enablement solutions
  • Customer Communications Management (CCM) platforms such as Quadient Inspire or Exstream

NTT DATA provides a reasonable range of compensation for U.S.-based positions. The starting pay range for this remote role is $117,600.00 to $196,000.00. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation for the position across all US locations.

Actual compensation will depend on a number of factors, including the candidate's actual work location, relevant experience, technical skills, and other qualifications. This position may also be eligible for incentive compensation based on individual and/or company performance.
