Full Job Description
As our Senior Business Analyst, you'll be the bridge between business vision and technical execution. You'll work closely with underwriting, claims, and operations teams to uncover the real needs behind business requests, translate them into actionable requirements, and guide IT teams in delivering solutions that streamline processes, reduce risk, and unlock new opportunities in the E&S space. Your expertise will directly shape the systems that drive our growth.

What You'll Do
  • Lead the requirements gathering process for complex E&S insurance initiatives-facilitating workshops, interviews, and process mapping sessions with stakeholders.
  • Translate business needs into detailed functional specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Partner with IT architects and developers to design and deliver end-to-end solutions, from concept through deployment.
  • Ensure solutions align with regulatory requirements, underwriting guidelines, and operational best practices in the E&S market.
  • Conduct gap analyses and recommend process improvements that leverage technology for maximum impact.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on E&S insurance products, rating, policy issuance, and claims workflows.
  • Support testing efforts by developing test cases, validating results, and ensuring solutions meet business expectations.
  • Contribute to transformation projects-helping migrate core systems from legacy platforms to modern, cloud-based architectures.
  • Mentor junior analysts and contribute to the continuous improvement of our business analysis framework.

What You'll Bring
  • 10+ years of business analysis experience, with at least 7 years in the Excess & Surplus insurance domain.
  • Proven track record of delivering end-to-end IT solutions in a complex, regulated environment.
  • Deep knowledge of E&S insurance processes, including underwriting, policy administration, and claims (claims domain experience is a plus).
  • Strong skills in requirements elicitation, process modeling, and documentation (e.g., BPMN, UML).
  • Experience with Waterfall, Agile, and Water-Scrum-Fall delivery methods, and the ability to adapt to hybrid approaches.
  • Hands-on experience with transformation projects-especially migrating from legacy systems to cloud-based solutions.
  • Familiarity with policy administration systems, rating engines, and integration with third-party data providers.
  • Exceptional communication skills-able to translate technical concepts into business language and vice versa.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Education: Minimum of a 4-year degree from an accredited institution (Business, Information Systems, or related field preferred) #hudson #LI-hybrid
