Role Definition 

We are seeking a Senior BMS Controller Engineer. This person would design, develop, and test electronic control modules for use within generator sets, battery management systems, and inverter/motor control.  

 

What You Will Do: 

  • Overseeing compliance with functional & environmental requirements, development processes, and regulations for ECM/ECUs for genset, BMS and inverter/motor control. 

  • Development of product requirements, analysis and simulation, electronic component selection, schematic/layout review, and platform verification and validation. 

  • Collaboration with various levels of software as well as battery, system and machine teams to ensure the platform integrates into multiple applications. 

  • Managing and negotiating with ECM/ECU vendors for the development of systems and components. 

  • Investigating and troubleshooting all technical issues related to ECM/ECUs during development and throughout the entire production lifecycle. 

  • Mentoring technicians and engineers in the development of electrical and electronic systems and components. 

 

Degree Requirement 

A degree in electrical engineering is required; an advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related accredited field is preferred.

Electronics Engineering - HTH: Knowledge of electronics engineering; ability to design, test and manufacture electronic circuits, components, and devices.

  • Interprets alternative interfaces between hardware and software and associated requirements and considerations. 

  • Advises on matching methodology, materials and tools to the electronic product that is being built. 

  • Consults on engineering multiple electronic circuits, components or devices. 

  • Evaluates the benefits and drawbacks of analog and digital circuits. 

 

Product Design - HTH: Knowledge of and the ability to utilize design tools (e.g., CAD) to convert customer and market requirements into product design. 

Level Extensive Experience:  

  • Monitors each phase of the design procedure to ensure overall operation meets standards. 

  • Trains others on major processes of product design; directs the conception of each component. 

  • Advises others on the development of multiple products and their architectures. 

  • Delivers improvement plans to senior management and compares the outcome of the design against the architecture. 

  • Evaluates feedback from customers and consults on functional weaknesses.

  • Controls design and development costs of a proposed product through effective resource coordination.

What Sets You Apart: 

  • Progressive technical ownership in ECM/ECU design, with experience in battery management controllers, is strongly preferred. 

  • Strong technical understanding of analog and/or digital circuitry, including design, simulation, analysis, schematic review, and layout review. 

  • Experience supporting product development processes such as NPI, APQP, CPPD, FMEAs, proactive reliability, and budget management. 

  • Experience with environmental validation, EMC testing, safety requirements, and regulatory compliance. 

  • Background working with machine or engine system electronic control modules. 

  • Proven ability to solve complex technical problems and collaborate effectively across engineering, software, battery, system, and machine teams.
