General NotesThis position supports the clinical engineering program through advanced technical support, system optimization, lifecycle management, and strategic planning activities. The role serves as a subject matter expert for complex medical device technologies and partners closely with clinical, operational, and technical stakeholders to ensure safe, compliant, and reliable medical device ecosystems.
PurposeThe Bioengineering Analyst III is a senior-level individual contributor responsible for advanced technical support, system optimization, lifecycle planning, and strategic contributions to the clinical engineering program. This role serves as a subject matter expert for complex medical device technologies and drives improvements in device reliability, compliance, cybersecurity, and operational efficiency.
ResponsibilitiesAdvanced Device Support & Technical Leadership
Lead troubleshooting and resolution of highly complex device failures
Serve as an escalation point for critical technical issues
Provide expert guidance on specialized and high-risk clinical equipment
Develop technical standards and best practices
Program Oversight: Maintenance, Compliance & Readiness
Oversee preventive maintenance and electrical safety testing programs for assigned device categories or departments
Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards
Lead audit preparation activities and support regulatory inspections
Evaluate and improve maintenance strategies and operational readiness
Strategic Asset Lifecycle Management
Lead lifecycle planning and capital replacement strategies
Analyze failure trends, utilization data, and total cost of ownership
Partner with leadership on capital budgeting decisions
Drive standardization initiatives across the healthcare system
Integration, Connectivity & Cybersecurity
Lead efforts related to device integration, interoperability, and connectivity
Support advanced troubleshooting of networked medical devices
Partner with cybersecurity teams to assess and mitigate risks
Guide patching strategies and vulnerability remediation efforts
Vendor & Contract Strategy
Evaluate and recommend service models, including insourcing and outsourcing options
Lead vendor performance reviews and escalation management activities
Provide technical leadership during contract negotiations and vendor discussions
Process Improvement & Innovation
Identify and implement process improvements across clinical engineering operations
Lead initiatives to improve equipment uptime, reduce costs, and enhance patient safety
Support adoption of new technologies and digital solutions
Mentorship & Team Leadership
Mentor and train Bioengineering Analyst I and II team members
Provide technical leadership and knowledge transfer
Support onboarding and professional development activities

Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline; OR Associate’s degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology
Six years of progressive biomedical or clinical engineering experience
Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic experience supporting medical equipment and systems
Experience working in large, complex healthcare environments
Knowledge of medical device maintenance, compliance requirements, and operational best practices
Ability to support complex clinical technologies and medical device ecosystems
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline
Eight years of experience supporting biomedical or clinical engineering operations
Experience with device integration, interoperability, and cybersecurity initiatives
Demonstrated experience leading projects or strategic initiatives
Experience supporting enterprise-scale healthcare systems

Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) – AAMI
Certified Clinical Engineer (CCE) – ACCE

Working ConditionsStandard office environment and equipment
Repetitive use of a keyboard and computer
Primarily onsite in clinical environments, patient care units, and equipment rooms
Valid driver’s license may be required when traveling between facilities
Frequent walking throughout healthcare facilities
May require lifting equipment weighing up to 40 pounds
May require working in confined spaces
May work occasional evenings, weekends, or on-call shifts as needed
May be exposed to communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, hazardous medications, and disoriented or combative patients
