Description

The Senior Benefits Program Manager supports the design,  and owns the administration and compliance of the organization's health and welfare plans and 401(k) plan. This individual is the subject-matter expert on benefits program execution, leading the annual enrollment process from start to finish and ensuring the company's retirement and welfare plans remain compliant with all applicable regulations. This is an individual contributor role requiring deep technical expertise and the ability to manage vendors and projects independently.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day administration for all health, welfare, and 401(k) plans, serving as the primary escalation point for complex claims, eligibility, and plan interpretation issues.
  • Lead the end-to-end annual open enrollment process, from plan changes and carrier negotiations through system configuration, communications, and reconciliation.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance across all benefit offerings, managing ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, Section 125, nondiscrimination testing, Form 5500 filings, and plan disclosures.
  • Manage relationships and service-level agreements with insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and the 401(k) recordkeeper, leading vendor evaluations and renewals.
  • Reconcile monthly benefit invoices, analyze plan performance and utilization reporting, and deliver educational communications to support employees and budgeting decisions.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience administering employee benefits programs.
  • Proven experience leading the annual benefits open enrollment process from strategy through post-enrollment execution.
  • Hands-on compliance experience managing ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, Section 125, and 401(k) plan requirements (e.g., Form 5500 filings and nondiscrimination testing).
  • Experience utilizing HRIS and benefits administration software platforms.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Strong project management capabilities with a track record of leading plan implementations, carrier transitions, and process improvement initiatives independently.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills, with demonstrated experience conducting invoice reconciliations and financial reporting.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on translating complex benefits concepts into clear employee education.
  • A high degree of discretion and sound judgment when handling confidential employee data.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $118,500 - $177,500  + bonus  + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
