Full Job Description
Lumos Fiber is seeking a highly analytical and employee-focused Senior Benefits Analyst to help shape and support the benefits experience for our growing workforce. In this role, you will play a key part in administering and enhancing employee benefits programs while partnering across HR, payroll, vendors, and leadership to ensure our offerings remain competitive, compliant, and aligned with the needs of our employees.

Essential Functions

Benefits Administration & Employee Support
  • Administer and support employee benefit programs including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, 401(k), FSA/HSA, wellness, and leave programs.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefit questions and provide timely resolution for complex benefits-related issues.
  • Support employees regarding eligibility, enrollments, claims issues, leave questions, retirement plan inquiries, benefits changes, and escalations.
  • Partner with HR leadership and external vendors to manage open enrollment, employee communications, plan renewals, and ongoing program administration.
  • Create clear and engaging benefits communications and educational materials to support employee understanding and engagement.

Compliance, Analysis & Operations
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, and other applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Conduct audits and reconcile benefits billing, enrollment data, and carrier invoices to ensure accuracy across HRIS, payroll, and vendor systems.
  • Manage and process all benefits-related invoices including carrier billing reconciliation, invoice audits, payment coordination, enrollment verification, and discrepancy resolution.
  • Analyze benefits utilization, financial trends, and market data to support strategic recommendations and continuous program improvement.
  • Evaluate current benefits offerings and recommend enhancements based on employee feedback, market trends, competitive benchmarking, and cost analysis.
  • Create reports, dashboards, and presentations to support leadership decision-making and benefits strategy discussions.
  • Support HRIS and payroll integrations related to benefits administration and identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
  • Strong understanding of employee benefits administration, compliance requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
  • Experience working with HRIS platforms, benefits administration systems, and payroll integrations.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong customer service mindset.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with employees, vendors, and cross-functional business partners.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in benefits administration and reporting.

Other Experience & Requirements
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in benefits administration, benefits analysis, or related HR functions.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience supporting employee benefits programs in a high-growth or fast-paced environment preferred.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state benefits regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Experience in the fiber, telecom, or technology industry preferred.

Physical Requirements
  • Frequently operates a computer, keyboard, and other standard office equipment.
  • Near-constant use of sight, speech, hearing, comprehension, and reasoning.
  • Primarily remote work with occasional travel to a Lumos office or offsite meetings as needed.
  • Must be able to sit or remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
