Senior Backend Engineer Location: Hybrid - San Mateo, CA
Compensation: $150K-$230K base + 10% Bonus + Equity

We are looking for a
Senior Backend Engineer to join our hybrid team in San Mateo. You'll play a key role in building scalable systems, driving technical architecture, and mentoring junior engineers, all while collaborating in a fast-paced, AI-forward environment.
What You'll Do:- Write clean, scalable, and maintainable backend code primarily in Python (Flask experience preferred)
- Lead and contribute to system architecture, technical design, and new product features
- Help establish and evolve high-quality development, testing, and engineering practices
- Work closely with Infrastructure, Data Engineering, and Product teams to deliver seamless solutions
- Mentor and support the growth of more junior engineers
- Actively leverage AI tools to enhance development workflows and drive efficiency
What We're Looking For:- 5+ years of backend software engineering experience, with strong expertise in Python
- Demonstrated success building distributed, scalable, and maintainable systems
- Infrastructure experience with AWS or GCP
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (BSCS) or a related technical field
- Excellent communication skills - able to clearly explain technical concepts in conversational English
- Genuine enthusiasm for AI and a proactive attitude toward using AI tools in everyday development work
