Role Description
The candidate is being considered for a senior hands-on automation engineering role within Infrastructure Technology. The role is focused on designing, building, reviewing, and supporting enterprise automation solutions, with a strong emphasis on Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform and network automation.
The candidate should have significant practical experience developing Ansible automation content and engineering, administering, and supporting Ansible Automation Platform. This should include experience with Automation Controller, Private Automation Hub, Execution Environments, inventories, credentials, RBAC, integrations, troubleshooting, upgrades, and operational support.
The candidate will report to the Director, Automation Services, and work as part of a team of automation engineers. The candidate will be expected to produce technical designs, contribute to solutioning, build approved designs, write production-quality Ansible code, and support peer code reviews.
The preferred background for the candidate is networking, with a strong knowledge of Cisco products and enterprise network operations. Linux, Windows, cloud, database, middleware, security, and ServiceNow knowledge are useful, but the primary technical emphasis should be Ansible Automation Platform and network automation.
Role Objectives: Delivery
Network Automation
Develop and implement automation solutions for enterprise network environments, with a strong focus on Cisco technologies.
Design reusable frameworks for network provisioning, configuration management, compliance validation, operational support, and lifecycle activities.
Collaborate with network engineering and architecture teams to identify, assess, and prioritize automation opportunities.
Apply deep networking knowledge to ensure automation solutions are technically accurate, operationally safe, and aligned with approved network standards.
Ansible Automation Platform Engineering
Support the engineering, administration, operation, and continuous improvement of Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform.
Develop and maintain custom Execution Environments and associated dependencies.
Administer and support Automation Controller and Private Automation Hub capabilities.
Participate in upgrades, migrations, troubleshooting, incident response, capacity planning, security improvements, and enterprise integrations.
Contribute to platform governance, engineering standards, and service resilience.
Qualifications and Skills
Required Qualifications
Significant hands-on experience developing enterprise automation solutions using Ansible.
Expert-level knowledge of Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, including both content development and platform engineering.
Strong networking background with deep knowledge of Cisco technologies, protocols, configuration models, and operational practices.
Experience building reusable automation frameworks and enterprise-grade automation content.
Experience developing Ansible Collections, roles, playbooks, modules, and workflow templates.
Strong understanding of Configuration as Code principles, source control, testing, and deployment practices.
Experience with automation governance, development standards, peer review, and technical design processes.
Ability to work effectively with engineers, architects, operations teams, and senior technology stakeholders.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, written communication, and problem-solving skills.
