The platform operates across the U.S., U.K., Australia, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

The Senior Auditor within Corporate Audit Services (CAS) supports independent assurance and advisory activities designed to evaluate and improve U.S. Bancorp's risk management, control, and governance processes across the enterprise, including affiliates and majority-owned entities. This role supports audit coverage for Capital Markets and institutional broker-dealer activities by assisting with risk assessments, audit planning, control testing, issue documentation, and reporting. The role partners with audit team members and stakeholders across risk, compliance, operations, technology, and business areas to assess processes and controls in a regulated financial services environment.

The Senior Auditor supports the execution of audits aligned to CAS policies, IIA Standards, and applicable regulatory requirements. The role is focused on developing audit proficiency, understanding Capital Markets products and processes, evaluating control design and operating effectiveness, preparing clear documentation, and contributing to timely, high-quality audit results. This position is appropriate for a developing audit professional with foundational audit, risk, compliance, accounting, or financial services experience and an interest in building Capital Markets and broker-dealer audit expertise.

Primary Responsibilities

Audit Planning & Risk Assessment
  • Assist with risk-based audit planning activities for Capital Markets and broker-dealer processes.
  • Support walkthroughs, process documentation, control identification, and risk assessment activities.
  • Perform research on assigned business areas, products, processes, regulations, and emerging risks.
  • Contribute to continuous monitoring activities by gathering and summarizing relevant business, control, and risk information.

Audit Execution & Documentation
  • Execute assigned audit procedures, including control design assessment, control testing, substantive testing, and validation activities.
  • Document audit work clearly, accurately, and in accordance with CAS methodology and internal quality expectations.
  • Identify potential control gaps, testing exceptions, or documentation issues and escalate them to audit project leadership.
  • Assist with drafting audit observations, issue support, and report content under the direction of audit management.
  • Maintain accountability for assigned work, including timely completion of testing, workpaper documentation, and follow-up items.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
  • Participate in meetings with business line, risk, compliance, operations, technology, and other control partners.
  • Communicate audit requests, testing results, and potential observations in a professional and concise manner.
  • Build working relationships with audit team members and stakeholders while maintaining independence and objectivity.
  • Support effective coordination across the three lines of defense.

Professional Development & Team Support
  • Develop knowledge of Capital Markets, broker-dealer activities, audit methodology, internal control concepts, and applicable regulatory expectations.
  • Participate in training, coaching, and feedback discussions to strengthen audit judgment and execution skills.
  • Support other audits, issue validation work, continuous monitoring, and special projects as needed.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, inclusive, and high-quality team environment.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or advanced degree, or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Typically more than 5 years of experience in audit, risk management, compliance, consulting, or related financial services functions.

Preferred Skills/Experience
  • Foundational understanding of internal controls, risk management, audit methodology, or regulatory expectations.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute assigned work, manage deadlines, and produce clear documentation in a professional environment.
  • Exposure to Capital Markets, broker-dealer, trading, investment banking, institutional sales, prime brokerage, research, operations, risk, compliance, or related financial services activities.
  • Public accounting, advisory, or consulting experience with a Big 4, national, or recognized professional services firm is a plus.
  • Experience performing audit, risk, compliance testing, internal control testing, SOX, regulatory review, or process/control documentation.
  • Interest in developing knowledge of Capital Markets products, front-to-back operating models, supporting technology platforms, and related risk and control frameworks.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to summarize issues and testing results clearly.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with stakeholders across business, risk, compliance, operations, technology, and audit.
