Overview

This job contributes to REI's success by developing location attribution, clustering and space planning solutions that support locally relevant, productive assortments across the existing retail fleet. The role uses sales, productivity, space, customer, product and location insights to inform assortment size recommendations, seasonal audits and location-based assortment strategies. Models and acts in accordance with REI's guiding values and mission.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

Responsibilities
  • Develops processes, tools and location attribution inputs that support clustering, space planning and assortment decisions across the existing retail fleet, using attributes such as store location, activity, climate, customer profile, demographics, skill level and value tier.
  • Builds location assortment solutions that improve local relevance and productivity; incorporates customer, product, sales, space and location insights while gaining alignment with key business partners.
  • Defines and applies productivity measures that inform assortment size, space allocation and location-based recommendations across stores.
  • Translates productivity trends, category performance, regional affinity, customer insights and location attributes into recommendations that influence assortment breadth, depth and space decisions.
  • Supports seasonal Category Management audits by evaluating assortment size, space and location attribute opportunities and helping prioritize recommended actions.
  • Measures the effectiveness of location-based assortment and attribution initiatives; communicates results, insights and recommendations to improve future planning decisions.
  • Builds effective partnerships with cross-divisional stakeholders, including Merchandising product and planning teams, Physical Place/Visual Merchandising, Analytics, Retail and Strategy.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Merchandising or relevant field of study
  • 3 to 5 years of merchandising, planning, analytics, or related experience involving customer and product trend analysis.
  • Elevated proficiency in MS Office suite including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL, Snowflake, Excel and analytical modeling preferred; experience with clustering, location attribution, customer segmentation or space productivity analysis a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance quantitative data and qualitative business input to make sound and effective decisions
  • Recognition of patterns, trends and relationships between customer needs, products and locations

Pay Range

$85,400.00 - $136,700.00 per year
