Job Title: Senior Investment Associate

Position Overview: Pivotal Life Sciences is seeking a highly motivated Investment Associate to join our dynamic investment team. This role uniquely integrates finance, therapeutics investment research, and artificial intelligence within the biotechnology sector, focusing on leveraging data science to enhance investment decisions. The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in finance, investment analysis, and a strong understanding of AI applications in financial contexts.

Key Responsibilities:

Investment Analysis: Conduct thorough market research, competitive analysis, and due diligence on investment opportunities in the biotechnology sector, focusing on AI-driven insights. Financial Modeling: Build, update, and maintain comprehensive financial models to evaluate the viability of potential investments, incorporating AI techniques where applicable. Collaboration: Work closely with senior investment professionals, data scientists, and software engineers to integrate AI and analytics into investment processes and decision-making. Data Science Contribution: Contribute to the development of predictive algorithms and AI models that inform investment strategies and improve portfolio performance. Reporting: Prepare and present investment recommendations, detailed reports, and findings to senior leadership and investment committees. Stakeholder Engagement: Establish and maintain relationships with industry experts, portfolio companies, and key opinion leaders to gather insights and foster collaboration. Continuous Learning: Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements relevant to biotech and AI applications in finance.

Qualifications:

Education: Advanced degree (PhD) in Biology or a related life sciences field required.

Work Experience: 2-5 years of relevant work experience in venture capital, investment banking, or buy or sell side public investment research, with a focus on biotechnology (ideally therapeutics) preferred.

AI and Data Science Skills:

Familiarity with data analysis, machine learning, and AI applications in finance and/or biotechnology.

Basic programming skills in Python or similar languages are a plus.

Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of financial modeling, valuation techniques, and investment analysis.

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to diverse audiences.

Analytical Skills: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to identifying opportunities.

Team Player: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Salary Range: $225,000-$250,000 plus annual performance bonus & equity opportunities
