Our Financial Operations & Analysis department is looking to hire a Senior Associate to join their team! Members of the FOA team share a strong drive to provide timely, accurate, and critical financial data analysis for the firm. In this role, you will have cross-functional visibility and the opportunity to work alongside internal groups, such as Asset Management, and external service providers. Our team works in a hybrid environment, with 3-days spent working in Heitman's office each week.
The Senior Associate will provide accounting, finance, valuation, and portfolio & asset management support within the Heitman organization. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong problem solving, analytical and communication skills while working in a highly collaborative environment. They will also demonstrate strong organizational skills and adeptness at multitasking.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Applying your knowledge of accounting principles and financial analysis in day-to-day responsibilities.
- Learning how to calculate property and debt valuations as well as investment performance metrics.
- Reviewing and approving accounting transactions such as acquisitions, dispositions, and waterfall calculations.
- Reviewing financial statements, supporting schedules, and related footnotes.
- Analyze and forecast IRR's and time-weighted returns and provide analytical observations and projections to Portfolio & Asset Management.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Real Estate
- 2 to 4 years of experience
- Analytically minded with an ability to manipulate and analyze data to identify trends, solve problems, and make informed recommendations
- Strong project and time management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Commitment and willingness to manage competing (sometimes tight) deadlines
- Strong team player and collaboration skills to support working together across multiple functional departments
- Motivated by independent and team-oriented successes
- Strong problem solver with the ability to leverage your analytical and critical thinking skills in school and/or in the work environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- A "think outside the box" mindset with a desire to brainstorm creative solutions in our ever-changing industry
- A fundamental knowledge of Excel
Job Location and Travel
- This position is based in our Chicago office.
- Our teams work in a hybrid environment and in-office days vary by team.
