Full Job Description
The Opportunity:

Onex is seeking a talented Senior Associate, Fund Operations, Credit to join our Toronto team. In this pivotal role, you'll drive fund accounting, performance reporting, and NAV reconciliation for credit-focused investment vehicles. You'll collaborate with third-party administrators and transfer agents, monthly, quarterly and year-end reporting, and deliver actionable financial insights to senior management and investors. This is an excellent opportunity for fund accountants with expertise in private credit funds, and advanced financial reporting (US GAAP).
Key Responsibilities:
  • NAV Reporting & Books & Reconciliation:
    Prepare schedules and supporting materials to reconcile monthly NAV and waterfall calculations with administrators. Ensure accuracy of fund books and records across multiple investment vehicles.
  • Performance & Financial Reporting:
    Maintain fund performance metrics (Rate of Return, Internal Rate of Return, Multiple on Invested Capital, Distributions to Paid-In). Assist with quarterly financial statements reviews, statutory filings and audit support.
  • Portfolio Management Review:
    Support trade operations and administrators for credit portfolios reviews, including bank loans, corporate bonds, Asset-Backed Securities (ABS), and Collateralized Loan Obligations (CLOs). Provide accounting guidance and ensure proper accounting for paydowns, Payment-in-Kind (PIK), maturities, restructurings deferred compensation, and cost of carry.
  • Quarterly & Regulatory Reporting:
    Develop workpapers and reporting packages to ensure transparency, regulatory compliance, and risk management (regulatory filings for US SEC reporting) for funds.
  • Capital Activity Support:
    Support and review documentation for capital calls, distributions, and investor notices and investor reporting (capital statements)
  • Technology & Process Improvement:
    Contribute to system enhancements, automation projects, and ad hoc reporting for senior management and investors.
Candidate Profile:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (required)
  • CPA designation (preferred)
  • 5 year of experience in public and private fund accounting, with expertise in credit funds, public equity, transfer agency, or fund administration. Big 4 background with audits of funds preferred.
  • Proven experience with waterfall calculations, derivatives, bank loans, ABS, and CLOs
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with fund accounting and trading platforms (Geneva, Broadridge, BMS, WSO, Bloomberg) preferred
  • Strong technical accounting, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage complex reporting in a dynamic environment
Additional Information:

The expected base salary range for this position is C$85,000 - C$100,000 on an annualized basis.

All-in compensation may vary based on several factors, such as relative experience, education level attained, certification(s), geographical location, etc. to account for local market conditions.
