ResponsibilitiesThe Senior (Sr.) Associate, Commercial Originations is responsible for sourcing, structuring, and originating commercial real estate (CRE) debt investments across a broad range of products, property types, and geographies within Canada. This mid to senior-level role will drive deal flow, build and maintain strong borrower and intermediary relationships, and partner closely with internal credit, capital markets, and portfolio management teams to execute high-quality investments aligned with the firm's risk-return objectives.

Origination & Business Development- Source and originate CRE debt opportunities across multiple product types, including senior mortgages, mezzanine loans, bridge financing, construction loans, and structured credit solutions.
- Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities across all major property types, including office, multifamily, industrial, retail, hospitality, life sciences, and specialty assets.
- Establish and deepen relationships with sponsors, developers, owners, brokers, and other market participants nationwide.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities through proactive outreach, networking, and market intelligence.
Deal Structuring & Execution- Support the structuring, underwriting, and negotiation of loan terms, ensuring alignment with firm strategy and risk parameters.
- Partner with internal underwriting and credit teams to evaluate transactions, including financial analysis, market assessment, and sponsor review.
- Present investment opportunities to Canadian executive and internal Bayview committees and stakeholders, clearly articulating risk/return profile and key considerations.
Market Strategy & Insights- Maintain deep knowledge of national CRE markets, including trends in capital flows, pricing, and credit conditions.
- Provide strategic insights on target markets, asset classes, and product types to inform origination strategy.
- Monitor competitive landscape and identify opportunities to differentiate the platform.
Relationship Management- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, delivering tailored financing solutions and maintaining long-term relationships.
- Collaborate with senior management to align origination activity with available capital and investment mandates.
- Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and client meetings.
Internal Collaboration- Work cross-functionally with the underwriting, asset management, legal, and capital markets teams to ensure efficient deal execution and portfolio performance.
- Contribute to portfolio construction by aligning originations with diversification and risk management goals.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
- 5-7 years of experience in commercial real estate finance, with a strong track record of originating CRE debt transactions.
- Proven ability to independently source and close transactions in a competitive environment.
