Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Produce comprehensive construction documents utilizing AutoCAD; Revit knowledge is beneficial.
  • Conduct project scoping and feasibility assessments, identifying potential issues early.
  • Design various residential projects including remodels, additions, and ADUs.
  • Review architectural plans to spot and address design and code conflicts early.
  • Lead the permit application process from initial feasibility up to approval.
  • Coordinate with local planning and building departments in California directly.
  • Resolve plan check corrections to ensure project progression without holdups.
  • Collaborate with structural engineers, MEP consultants, and contractors during preconstruction phases.
  • Establish drawing standards, QA processes, and best practices for permitting.
  • Serve as a reliable technical resource for the expanding Preconstruction team.

What you will do
  • Produce complete construction documents using AutoCAD (Revit is a plus).
  • Support project scoping and feasibility assessments - flag zoning issues, setback conflicts, or structural concerns early
  • Design remodels, additions, ADUs, and custom residential projects.
  • Review plans and identify constructability gaps, code conflicts, and design issues early.
  • Lead permit applications from feasibility through approval.
  • Coordinate directly with California planning and building departments.
  • Resolve plan check corrections and keep projects moving.
  • Coordinate with structural engineers, MEP consultants, contractors, and Owner Representatives throughout preconstruction.
  • Help establish drawing standards, QA processes, and permitting best practices.
  • Become a trusted technical resource for our growing Preconstruction team.


Who you are
  • 5+ years of California residential architectural design experience.
  • Strong AutoCAD proficiency required (Revit is a plus).
  • Experience producing detailed residential construction documents.
  • Strong understanding of California Building Code, zoning, and permitting - CBC, CRC, Title 24, accessibility requirements, fire codes where applicable
  • Experience with remodels, additions, ADUs, and residential permitting.
  • Comfortable working directly with cities, consultants, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Licensed Architect is welcome but not required. Strong technical experience is what matters most.

The pay range for this role is:

85,000 - 120,000 USD per year (Irvine, CA)
