Full Job Description
Position Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled Application Engineer to bridge the gap between advanced R&D and real-world truck operations. You will play a dual role:
  • First, as a Manufacturing & Integration Engineer: Ensuring our autonomous kits are perfectly retrofitted onto truck chassis. This includes process standardization, quality control implementation, and continuous improvement in manufacturing operations.
  • Second, as a Technical Troubleshooter: Ensuring our fleet remains operational through rigorous diagnosis of complex sensor and system issues during daily operations.

The ideal candidate must have approved 5+ years experience in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or system engineering.
Key Responsibilities
1. Truck Retrofitting & Production Development (From Design to Line)

This core area focuses on "building the machine." You will ensure the transition from engineering prototypes to scalable, high-quality retrofitted trucks.
  • Production Equipment & Tooling: Design and implement specialized manufacturing tools, jigs, fixtures, and End-of-Line (EOL) testing equipment to improve efficiency.
  • Process Engineering (SOP & PFMEA): Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for vehicle retrofitting. Lead PFMEA sessions to identify and mitigate potential risks in the assembly process.
  • On-site Technical Support: Serve as the primary technical point of contact on the shop floor, resolving real-time engineering issues and communicating design change requirements back to the ME/EE teams.
  • NPI & DFM: Collaborate with design teams (New Product Introduction) to ensure manufacturability (DFM) and review electrical/mechanical designs for smooth integration.
  • Quality & Standards: Establish inspection methods to ensure all retrofitted trucks comply with ISO/IATF and safety standards.
2. Truck Troubleshooting & Fleet Operations (System Diagnosis)

This core area focuses on "keeping the machine running." You will be the expert for autonomous driving system stability during daily fleet operations.
  • AD Sensor Diagnosis: Perform deep-dive root cause analysis on LiDAR, Camera, and Radar hardware/software issues (e.g., data dropouts).
  • Drive-by-Wire (DbW) Support: Troubleshoot complex interaction issues between the autonomous system and truck chassis components like steering and braking actuators.
  • Data-Driven Problem Solving: Utilize diagnostic tools and communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet) to analyze logs and identify system failures.
  • Fleet Health Monitoring: Support daily fleet operations by providing rapid response to vehicle-down situations, ensuring high uptime for our autonomous testing and logistics missions.
  • CAPA Implementation: Implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) based on recurring field issues to improve future vehicle iterations.
Qualifications

Required:
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, electrical, or systems engineering within the automotive or robotics industry.
  • Technical Skills: * Proficiency in PFMEA and root cause analysis (RCA) methodologies.
    • Hands-on experience with CAD software (SolidWorks or AutoCAD) for fixture design.
    • Solid understanding of vehicle electrical systems and the ability to read complex electrical diagrams.
  • AD Knowledge: Familiarity with autonomous driving sensors (LiDAR, Camera) and vehicle communication protocols (CAN/CAN-FD, Ethernet).
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication skills to bridge the gap between shop-floor technicians and R&D engineers; a "hands-on" mindset.

Preferred:
  • Experience in autonomous vehicle, electric vehicle (EVs), or robotic system manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW for data processing and automation scripting is a plus but not required.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret manufacturing data and performance metrics.
  • Knowledge of vehicle communication protocols (CAN, LIN, and Automotive Ethernet) and diagnostic tools for production testing.
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and automotive regulatory requirements.
  • Better to have basic knowledge of ISO 16750, SAE J1455
