Summary

We are seeking a Senior Application Developer to join our Operational Technology Services team. In this highly visible role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, and supporting critical business and operational applications that drive enterprise success.

This position offers a unique blend of custom application development, vendor application administration, system integration, and operational support, providing an opportunity to work with modern technologies while collaborating closely with business stakeholders, vendors, and technical teams. The ideal candidate is a problem solver who enjoys building innovative solutions, optimizing existing systems, and delivering reliable applications that support mission-critical operations.

Experience supporting PCI Energy Solutions applications, vendor software platforms, and enterprise application ecosystems is strongly desired.

What You'll Do

Application Development & System Integration
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and support software applications that align with business and operational objectives.
  • Develop new applications and enhance existing systems using programming, scripting, database, and integration technologies.
  • Analyze business, functional, and technical requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
  • Build and maintain APIs, integrations, automation workflows, and data exchanges between enterprise systems.
  • Participate in application architecture, design reviews, and technical solution planning.


Vendor Application Administration & Support
  • Configure, administer, and support commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) applications in both cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Translate business requirements into application configurations, workflows, business rules, and automation processes.
  • Partner with software vendors and internal stakeholders to maximize application functionality, performance, and business value.
  • Manage vendor software upgrades, patches, releases, testing, and deployment activities.
  • Troubleshoot complex application issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term solutions.


Operational Excellence
  • Ensure successful implementation of application enhancements and system improvements.
  • Monitor application performance and continuously identify opportunities for optimization and innovation.
  • Maintain technical documentation, system configurations, support procedures, and knowledge articles.
  • Ensure compliance with cybersecurity, data governance, enterprise architecture, and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation supporting 24/7 business operations, including incident response, troubleshooting, and service restoration.


Collaboration
  • Work closely with business partners, operational teams, project stakeholders, and vendors to deliver scalable, reliable solutions.
  • Participate in Agile and project-based development initiatives.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to end users and team members.


Education

A bachelor's degree relevant to the assignment from an accredited institution is preferred.

Preferred Experience/Qualifications

  • Experience with PCI Energy Solutions products and applications.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies and application support practices.
  • Experience supporting energy trading, generation management, grid operations, or related utility applications.
  • Ability to analyze complex business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Experience with cloud-based and on-premises application environments.
  • Supporting or administering vendor-supplied enterprise applications.
  • Experience serving in a hybrid role that includes application development, vendor application administration, and production support.
  • Designing, developing, testing, and supporting enterprise applications.
  • Experience working with databases, APIs, integrations, automation workflows, and scripting/programming technologies.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.


Experience

This position may be filled at one of three levels outlined below, based on the candidate's relevant education, experience, or a combination of both that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and competencies.

Level I - Associate: In lieu of a degree, 4 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling 4 years may be considered.

Level 2 - Journey: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience required. In lieu of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling 6 years may be considered.

Level 3 - Senior: Minimum 5 years of relevant experience required. In lieu of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling 9 years may be considered.

Eligibility for advancement (progression) to the next level in the same role is based on overall job performance, mastery of all functional responsibilities, and time in position, as assessed by the supervisor.

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
