Senior Application Developer JOB SUMMARY As a, you'll work in a team of software engineers within the Insurance Services for Small Business Solutions Technology team. Key Responsibilities Join a scrum team of talented software engineers, plan, execute and deliver top quality software deliverables on-time Work closely with architects to design solutions for complex business requirements Be a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, agile environment being able to change direction quickly, and showing an eagerness to learn new technologies as the need arises Overall, you will be responsible for day-to-day task management and sprint planning, working closely with product and stakeholders, participating in design sessions, leading and mentoring engineers to ensure that they follow best practices and guidelines, performing heads-down development, and working with QA to assure top quality deliverables on-time Required Qualifications B.S. Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience is required Minimum 4+ years of Java/JEE Programming Minimum 3+ years of practical experience with Spring frameworks and Spring Boot Minimum 2+ years of experience with relational databases and DB programming skills (Oracle / PL/SQL) Minimum 3+ years of experience with RESTful APIs and Webservices -- define and drive the requirements Minimum 2+ years of experience with JPA/Hibernate or Spring Repositories Experience working with product management, architects and stakeholders Experience developing web applications and web services (RESTful) Experience in JavaScript and JavaScript frameworks: Angular or ReactJS Experience with agile software management (Rally / JIRA / RTC) Experience in web development (HTML5 + CSS3) Experience with automated testing Experience with Version Control i.e.: Git, GitHub, Bitbucket, etc. Experience with Jenkins or other CI (continuous integration) system Proven experience integrating AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, or equivalent) into web application development practices to accelerate feature delivery, generate unit and integration tests, and enhance code review processes; demonstrated ability to critically assess, refactor, and harden AI-generated code to meet security, performance, and quality benchmarks. Preferred Qualifications Excellent verbal and written communication skills Working knowledge in at least one testing framework i.e.: Selenium, JUnit/TestNg, Cucumber, Mocha, etc. Working knowledge in security and performance Experience with CSS frameworks such as Bootstrap Experience with agile software management (Rally / JIRA / RTC) Experience with microservices and cloud-native development Experience with Insurance business domain
