Full Job Description
Position Description:

We9re looking for a Sr Android Engineer who9s excited to make an impact. In this role, you will be responsible for building and evolving our native Android application used by field service technicians on the job. You9ll work on a mature, modular Kotlin codebase - contributing to offline-first sync architecture, Jetpack Compose adoption, and platform features that directly impact how our customers work in the field. You9ll collaborate closely with iOS, Backend, API, and Web teams, and play an active role in shaping engineering practices on the mobile team.

About You:

You9ve spent years writing Kotlin and know your way around Jetpack Compose, coroutines, and Flow, and you enjoy the puzzle of getting offline sync and data consistency right. You value writing high-quality, maintainable code while balancing delivery. You write tests, give good feedback in reviews, and take feedback just as well. You9re excited about AI-assisted development tools and know how to use them to genuinely improve your work, not just move faster on autopilot. You communicate clearly with teammates across disciplines, and you9re just as comfortable in an architecture discussion as you are heads-down in Android Studio.

Key Responsibilities and Activities:

Feature Development & Architecture
  • Design, build, and maintain features for the ServiceTrade Android application using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose
  • Contribute to and help evolve our MVVM architecture; keep Composables and Fragments thin with business logic in ViewModels
  • Work within our modular Gradle-based codebase (24+ modules); understand and respect module boundaries
  • Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to technical decision-making
  • Collaborate with the Mobile Architect on platform direction and standards

Offline-First & Data Layer
  • Build and maintain features that work reliably across varying network conditions, including offline scenarios
  • Work with Room and our WorkManager-based sync engine to ensure data consistency and reliability
  • Contribute to conflict resolution and data synchronization strategies

Code Quality & Engineering Practices
  • Write well-tested code; contribute to unit and integration test coverage using JUnit, MockK, and Turbine
  • Participate in code reviews; provide and receive feedback constructively
  • Adopt and champion AI-assisted development tools and agentic workflows to improve delivery speed and quality
  • Follow and help refine coding standards across the Android team

Performance & Observability
  • Monitor app health via Crashlytics, Kibana, and Pendo; investigate and resolve issues proactively
  • Profile and optimize app performance across supported Android versions and devices (SDK 29-36)
  • Contribute to feature flag implementation and safe rollout practices using Firebase Remote Config

Collaboration
  • Work closely with Product, Design, Backend, API, and Web teams to deliver features end-to-end
  • Collaborate with QA on end-to-end test coverage and release readiness
  • Communicate technical trade-offs clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Knowledge and Skills:

Required:
  • 5+ years of professional Android development experience
  • Proven experience with AI-assisted development tools; pragmatic about their strengths and limitations
  • Demonstrated ability to help teammates adopt AI tooling where it genuinely improves output and quality
  • Strong proficiency in Kotlin including coroutines, Flow, and idiomatic Kotlin patterns
  • Experience with Jetpack Compose in production Android applications
  • Experience with Dagger 2 or similar dependency injection frameworks
  • Experience with MVVM or similar architecture patterns
  • Experience with Room or similar local persistence solutions
  • Proficiency with Kotlin Coroutines and Flow for async and reactive programming
  • Experience with REST API integration and offline-first or sync-heavy mobile applications
  • Solid understanding of Android memory management, performance profiling, and debugging tools
  • Experience with unit and integration testing on Android
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Google Play Store release processes
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills; comfortable working across teams

Preferred:
  • Experience building form-based applications and data-collection utilities from a mobile app perspective
  • Experience with Ktor or Retrofit for network layer development
  • Familiarity with Firebase ecosystem including Crashlytics, Analytics, and Remote Config
  • Experience with Pendo or similar product analytics platforms
  • Familiarity with GitHub Actions for Android build automation
  • Experience with WorkManager for background task scheduling
  • Experience with feature flag systems and remote configuration
  • Experience integrating mobile payment solutions such as Stripe or Stripe Terminal
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude or Cursor
  • Familiarity with RxJava
  • Experience with Turbine or similar tools for testing Kotlin Flow
  • Prior experience at a SaaS or field service software company
  • Familiarity with cross-platform frameworks such as .NET MAUI or Flutter
