The Opportunity

Ally's CRA team is a highly specialized group within the Bank dedicated to positively impacting communities through CRA-qualifying loans, investments, and services. While compliance with the CRA is a regulatory requirement for all FDIC-insured banks, at Ally it is a mission-driven effort. The team manages a ~$5 billion portfolio that supports affordable housing, community services, economic development, and neighborhood revitalization.

The Operations Sr. Analyst - CRA will be responsible for the day-to-day monitoring and servicing of a $2.75 billion portfolio of CRA-qualified equity investments. These investments span private credit, private equity, venture capital, real estate, and affordable housing funds.

This role partners closely with Accounting, Finance, Treasury, Compliance, Tax, Legal, Internal Audit, and external fund managers to ensure accurate processing, reporting, strong controls, and audit-ready documentation. The Operations Analyst will also play an important role in identifying opportunities to streamline, standardize, and automate operational processes.

At this time, Ally will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position.

The Work Itself

  • Perform end-to-end servicing for fund investments, including capital calls, distributions, and related cash movements (e.g., approvals, wires/ACH, confirmations, and reconciliations).
  • Maintain investment records and portfolio trackers; perform monthly position/balance validations and research/resolve breaks with internal partners and external administrators.
  • Coordinate quarterly reporting cycles by collecting fund statements and capital account reports, tracking required deliverables, validating completeness/accuracy, and documenting support for valuation changes.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, compliance, and other key metrics in partnership with the Bank's external vendor; follow up on exceptions and escalate issues as needed.
  • Prepare CRA investment financial reporting and portfolio roll forwards, including variance explanations and management-ready summaries.
  • Support CRA documentation and evidence management by organizing records required for CRA eligibility, community development purpose, and internal governance, audit, and regulatory needs.
  • Collaborate with Accounting and Finance during monthly and quarterly close activities to ensure timely and accurate financial recording consistent with internal standards and controls.
  • Identify key controls and apply risk frameworks to mitigate operational and reporting risk; maintain procedures and support audit and exam readiness.
  • Prepare materials for internal meetings and CRA governance activities, including status updates, dashboards, action items, and ad hoc analyses.
  • Participate in Ally's community outreach programs, including volunteer and leadership opportunities with nonprofit organizations, to support community development service hour requirements
