POSITION OVERVIEW

At BDC, the only bank dedicated exclusively to Canadian entrepreneurs, the Senior Analyst, Business Restructuring supports directors in managing turnaround and restructuring files. You contribute directly to the success of Canadian businesses by delivering financial analysis, credit support, and portfolio administration. The role combines analytical work with client and stakeholder coordination. At BDC, you can be yourself at work while helping businesses regain stability and grow.

CHALLENGES TO BE MET

  • Identify and analyze the root causes of client underperformance using financial and operational data.
  • Participate in evaluating clients' long-term viability, business strategy, and restructuring plans, supporting informed decision-making.
  • Review and assess cash flow forecasts, financial projections, and supporting analyses for accuracy and feasibility.
  • Conduct market and industry research (documentary and virtual) to assess trends and prospects; synthesize findings into clear recommendations for directors.
  • Support client interactions, including attending meetings with directors when possible, to understand risks, constraints, and opportunities.
  • Compile and validate all required documentation for new loan applications.
  • Contribute to credit assessments in line with BDC credit policies, practices, and quality standards.
  • Participate in portfolio administration: annual reviews, risk assessments, action plans, and ongoing monitoring.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients, internal partners, and third parties to resolve routine issues.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Business Centre teams and internal stakeholders to ensure consistent application of credit policies and procedures.
  • Provide knowledge sharing and informal coaching within the team.
  • Support administrative processes (e.g., maintaining checklists, tracking tools) and contribute to special projects as required.


WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 3-5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in financial analysis (e.g., financial modeling, forecasting, credit analysis).
  • Proven ability to analyze financial statements, cash flow forecasts, and projections.
  • Knowledge of credit risk management concepts, lending practices, and loan administration processes.
  • Understanding of legal concepts related to security, collateral, and enforcement.
  • Strong written communication skills in a business context.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Excel (e.g., formulas, financial models), Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Ability to identify key business issues and assess their impact on commercial performance.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional designation: CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) or CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst).
  • Experience in financial services, commercial lending, or business restructuring/turnaround environments.
  • Experience working with lending systems or credit management software.
  • Bilingualism: English and French (depending on role location).
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders or client-facing roles.
