Full Job Description
A career as a Senior Advisor in the Fund Accounting Operations sector at National Bank means contributing to a leading Canadian financial institution recognized for the quality and integrity of its financial information. You play a key role in the production, final review and continuous improvement of investment fund financial statements.

In this strategic role, you act as a trusted technical expert, working closely with external fund managers and external auditors, while exercising your professional judgement in complex environments where accuracy, governance and compliance with deadlines are essential.

National Bank's Fund Accounting sector is responsible for calculating the daily net asset value (NAV), calculating distributions, producing financial statements and tax returns for the funds.

Your job

  • Content expert in accounting and regulatory standards, including IFRS, applicable to exchange-traded funds
  • Oversee and review complex elements of interim and annual financial statements, including notes and disclosures
  • Final review and quality approval of financial statements before they are issued
  • Work closely with external fund managers to resolve accounting issues and support their understanding of financial results
  • Serve as the main resource person for external auditors: Answer technical questions, review audit findings and help resolve issues
  • Assess the impact on financial information related to new products, regulatory changes and strategic initiatives
  • Identify opportunities to improve controls, processes and efficiency of financial production
  • Participate in cross-sector initiatives and represent the team on internal and external committees or forums
  • Serve as a technical reference and contribute to the development of colleagues by sharing knowledge

Your team

In the Fund Accounting sector, you are part of a team of 16 colleagues in the Financial statements team. With experts in finance, accounting and taxation, you analyse and interpret the data to support the best decisions for our clients and partners. You report to the Financial statements Manager.

Our team stands out for its expertise in mutual fund accounting, the quality of the production of audited semi-annual and annual financial statements, the experience offered to clients and employees, as well as a dynamic atmosphere and strong collaboration. both within the team and with other teams in the sector.

Work hours are flexible and remote work is offered based on operational needs. We favour a variety of continuous learning approaches to support your development, including on-the-job learning, access to training content and collaboration with colleagues with a wide range of expertise and profiles.

Prerequisites

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or any other combination of training deemed equivalent and seven to ten years of relevant experience
  • BIA professional designation
  • Solid knowledge of exchange-traded funds and experience in auditing financial statements
  • Excellent communication skills, with good priority and time management
  • Critical thinking focused on problem solving and professional rigour
  • experience in analysing notes to financial statements and expertise in IFRS standards
