About the role

We are looking for a Senior Advisor, Communications to join the team in Labrador City, NL. This is an opportunity to help leaders communicate clearly, strengthen employee engagement, and create meaningful connections between business priorities and the employee experience.

What you'll be doing

Reporting to the Director, Communications, CSP and External Affairs, you will support employee communications across IOC operations while contributing to enterprise-wide communication initiatives. You will:
  • Develop and implement communication plans that support operational priorities, employee engagement, culture, and business performance.
  • Act as a trusted communications advisor to Labrador City leaders, providing strategic guidance and partnering with them to deliver messages that resonate with frontline employees and support safe, reliable, and productive operations.
  • Translate complex business decisions into clear, relevant, and actionable messages for leaders and employees.
  • Lead or support employee communication campaigns, town halls, employee meetings, and leadership communication activities.
  • Strengthen two-way communication by gathering employee feedback, monitoring sentiment, and identifying emerging issues and recommending actions to leaders.
  • Create and manage content across newsletters, digital screens, emails, videos, presentations, and collaboration platforms.
  • Partner with Communications, CSP, External Affairs, Human Resources, Health and Safety, Operations, and other functions on selected internal or external programs, community engagement and reputation-building initiatives as required.
  • Collaborate across functions to ensure communication approaches are coordinated, integrated and aligned with business priorities and organizational objectives.

Required for Success

  • Demonstrated experience advising leaders on employee communications, engagement, organizational change, or related communication strategies.
  • Strong experience developing communication plans, campaigns, leadership communications, and multi-channel content in a complex organization.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling capability with the ability to translate complex information into clear messages.
  • A degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Teams, SharePoint, Viva Engage, and digital communication tools.


Helpful for Success
  • Experience supporting communications within large-scale industrial, operational, mining, manufacturing, or safety-critical environments.
  • Ability to transform ideas and data into compelling presentations, infographics, and other visual storytelling assets that enhance engagement and understanding
  • French language skills and experience supporting community engagement or reputation-building initiatives.
