Position Summary

The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for the architecture, deployment, and ongoing support of a highly distributed, multi-site IT infrastructure supporting retail stores, distribution centers, and corporate environments. This role ensures high availability, performance, and security of systems that power store operations, point-of-sale (POS) systems, and enterprise platforms across hundreds of locations.

This position requires deep expertise in managing large-scale environments, strong troubleshooting abilities in geographically dispersed systems, and a proactive approach to standardization, automation, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Management

  • Design, deploy, and manage enterprise-level IT infrastructure (on-premises and cloud)
  • Administer Windows and/or Linux servers, virtualization platforms, and storage systems
  • Administer enterprise systems including:
    • Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy
    • Microsoft 365 / Azure AD / identity platforms
  • Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity planning
  • Ensure high availability and disaster recovery readiness

Systems & Platform Administration

  • Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and identity services
  • Oversee enterprise systems such as email, collaboration tools (e.g., Microsoft 365), and identity platforms
  • Oversee virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V) supporting corporate and retail applications

  • Maintain patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management of systems

Cloud & Automation

  • Support hybrid environments spanning on-premise datacenters and cloud platforms (SaaS)
  • Automate system administration tasks using PowerShell, Bash, or similar scripting tools
  • Assist in cloud migrations and hybrid infrastructure strategies

Security & Compliance

  • Implement and maintain security best practices across infrastructure
  • Monitor vulnerabilities, apply security patches, and respond to incidents
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements

Troubleshooting & Support

  • Serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement permanent solutions
  • Maintain system documentation, diagrams, and operational procedures

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Mentor and guide junior administrators and support staff
  • Collaborate with network, security, and application teams
  • Contribute to IT projects, architecture planning, and strategic initiatives

Required Qualifications

  • 5–8+ years of experience in systems administration or infrastructure engineering
  • Strong experience with:
    • Windows Server and/or Linux environments

  • Experience with scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python)
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VPN, firewalls)
