Senior Adjuster, Property Claims

The Senior Adjuster, Property Claims, is responsible for the expert handling of complex and high-severity property claims, including large residential, commercial, and structural losses. Operating within Heartland's Property Core cluster, this role ensures fair, defensible, and timely resolution of claims through advanced technical assessment, vendor oversight, and comprehensive coverage analysis. The Senior Inside Adjuster acts as a technical resource and escalation point for junior team members, providing mentorship, quality assurance feedback, and support during CAT surge activity.

What you'll do...
  • Manage complex and high-severity property claims, including large residential, commercial, and structural losses.
  • Lead file investigations from first notice through resolution, ensuring coverage accuracy, defensibility, and fair outcomes.
  • Review and validate engineer reports, cost consultant estimates, and contractor scopes for accuracy and compliance.
  • Act as a technical resource for junior adjusters, providing mentorship, guidance, and file escalation support.
  • Maintain exceptional communication with insureds, brokers, and vendors throughout the claim lifecycle.
  • Participate in catastrophe (CAT) response planning, surge handling, and post-event evaluations.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives tied to quality, efficiency, and defensibility.


What you'll bring...
  • 5-7 years of progressive property claims adjusting experience, including exposure to large loss or structural claims.
  • Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation required; Fellowship (FCIP) considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of construction principles, policy wording interpretation, and technical estimate review.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor peers and handle high-complexity files with minimal oversight.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in claims management systems (Guidewire), Microsoft Office, and Xactimate.

The salary range for this role is $68,000 - $102,000. The salary for the successful candidate will be determined by various factors including but not limited to an individual's relevant experience, knowledge, skills, along with internal equity, and market considerations.
