Senior Accounting Manager - Portland, Oregon
This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional who can operate above a traditional Accounting Manager level while supporting mid-level Controller responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be a well-rounded accounting generalist with strong fundamentals, experience across multiple industries, and the ability to quickly adapt to different client environments while supporting day-to-day accounting, month-end close, process improvements, and financial reporting.
Candidates must be located in or willing to commute throughout the Portland metro area and surrounding markets. This role may require travel to client sites across Portland and other areas in Oregon as needed, including Vancouver, Salem, and surrounding communities.
Key Responsibilities
Manage full-cycle accounting operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, Payroll support, Billing, and Revenue Recognition
Lead and support month-end and year-end close processes with accuracy and timeliness
Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow reporting, and variance analysis
Partner with client leadership teams to provide financial insight and improve visibility into business performance
Assist with internal controls, accounting policies, and process improvements
Support mid-level Controller responsibilities, including financial reporting, audit preparation, and accounting team oversight
Help standardize accounting procedures while adapting to the unique needs of each client
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reporting accuracy, and scalability within accounting functions
Work cross-functionally with operations, finance, and leadership teams to support client needs
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
Strong Accounting Manager, Senior Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, or similar experience
Experience supporting month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and full-cycle accounting operations
Generalist industry background preferred, with the ability to adapt across multiple client environments
Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting best practices
Experience with ERP or accounting systems
Ability to step into hands-on accounting work while also supporting higher-level Controller functions
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Comfortable managing multiple priorities in fast-paced and changing environments
Must be based in or willing to commute throughout the Portland, OR market and surrounding areas, including Vancouver and Salem as needed
