Sr. Accounting Analyst to join our accounting team. This role is ideal for a professional with a strong blend of accounting and financial analysis skills.
We're looking for someone who is detail-oriented, analytical, and naturally curious. They enjoy working with numbers, identifying trends, solving problems, and understanding the financial drivers behind business performance.
Compensation: $95,000/yr-$105,000/yr
Here are some things that will make you successful:- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, with some Finance background preferred
- 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate or property management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to identify issues, investigate root causes, and implement solutions.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience working with large datasets.
- Strong understanding of financial statements and accounting principles.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate findings and recommendations clearly to both accounting and other teams.
- CPA certification (preferred)
- Hands-on experience with property management accounting software (preferred)
What you will be doing: The
Sr. Accounting Analyst will be responsible for core accounting functions, including account reconciliations, journal entries, financial reporting, and month-end close activities, while also supporting financial analysis, process improvements, and special projects.
Core responsibilities include: Accounting & Financial Reporting- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, reclassifications, and account reconciliations.
- Assist accounting manager with payroll billbacks
- Draft corporate budget and assist with monthly classifications and financial review
- Calculate and reconcile monthly CAM charges, percent rent and management fees.
- Analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts for accuracy and completeness.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
- Prepare supporting schedules and financial analyses.
- Review financial statements and identify unusual trends, errors, or inconsistencies.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
Analysis & Problem Solving- Investigate accounting discrepancies and determine root causes.
- Perform variance analysis and provide meaningful explanations for financial results.
- Identify accounting process inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
- Develop tools, reports, and metrics that improve decision-making.
- Collaborate with asset management, acquisitions, and property management teams to resolve financial issues.
Projects & Process Improvement- Lead and support special projects related to accounting
- Assist with system implementations, process automation, and workflow improvements.
- Evaluate existing processes and recommend scalable solutions.
- Participate in acquisitions, asset management, and other strategic initiatives as needed.
- Create and maintain documentation for accounting procedures and controls.
- Facilitate and oversee new acquisition property setup including all credit accounts, utilities, banking, treasury management, accounting and financial accounts within our software, etc.
Where you will work: This position will require you to work in-person at our corporate office in
River North, Chicago.
