Job Summary:

The Senior Accounting Analyst will be responsible for supporting firm-wide financial reporting requirements by preparing and analyzing financial information and processes.

Job Duties:
  • Ensures the application of proper accounting policies and processes and leads the development of best practices
  • Interprets and applies corporate financial policies and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Analyzes financial data and serves as a point person for BDO's key subsidiaries
  • Assists in the coordination and execution of annual external audits
  • Supports system implementations within our reporting software as well as our transactional systems
  • Supports purchase accounting activities for M&A transactions
  • Assists in preparation of monthly account reconciliations and journal entries, including the resolution of any issues identified
  • Reviews, documents and assists in the implementation of accounting policies, process improvements and internal control procedures
  • Assists in the analysis of financial lending requirements and covenants
  • Serves as a resource for other departments regarding financial reporting and analysis
  • Partners with BDO's Financial Planning and Analysis team to streamline and improve the monthly financial reporting cycle/process
  • Partners with Financial Systems Support (FSS) to leverage technology and drive continuous improvement within the Firm's financial system landscape
  • Prepares ad hoc reports and analysis, as needed
  • Other duties, as required

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree, required; with a focus in Accounting or Finance, preferred

Experience:
  • Three (3) or more years of general accounting experience, required
  • Prior experience working within a professional services firm such as accounting, financial services, business advisory and/or banking industries, preferred

License/Certifications:
  • CPA, preferred

Software:
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, required
  • Prior experience using PeopleSoft Financials, preferred
  • Prior experience using Hyperion, preferred
  • Prior experience using fixed asset systems, preferred

Language:
  • N/A

Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Displays superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Capable of working and communicating effectively with professionals at all levels
  • Able to work in a deadline-drive environment and handle multiple projects / tasks with an attention to detail
  • Ability to successfully multi-task while working independently or within a group environment
  • Strong data entry skills
  • Possesses superior customer service skills
  • Ability to maintain the highly confidential nature of information
  • Demonstrates a basic understanding of the accounting processes


Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

National Range: $80,000 - $85,000 Maryland Range: $80,000 - $85,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $80,000 - $85,000
