Position Title: Senior Accountant

Salary Range: $85,000 - $110,000

Job Class: Full Time - Permanent

Work Location: Vancouver, BC (hybrid)

Reports to: Controller, WELLSTAR

Position Summary:

The Senior Accountant will play a key role in supporting the Financial Reporting team and the WELLSTAR business unit through full-cycle accounting, month-end close, financial reporting, account reconciliations, tax compliance, and process improvement initiatives. This role is responsible for preparing financial statements and month-end reporting packages for multiple entities, reviewing complex journal entries and reconciliations, and providing guidance to junior team members.

What you will be doing:
  • Guide, coach, and support junior team members during the month-end close process for the WELLSTAR business unit.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and month-end financial reporting packages for multiple entities.
  • Perform and review complex journal entries, account reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Analyze business performance, financial results, and trends to provide meaningful insights to internal stakeholders.
  • Leverage AI-enabled tools and emerging technologies to improve efficiency, accuracy, automation, and insight generation within finance and accounting processes.
  • Prepare calculations, analysis, and accounting support for complex transactions.
  • Lead and support post-acquisition integration of general ledger and other finance processes.
  • Oversee provincial and federal sales tax filings and ensure compliance across applicable jurisdictions.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation, responding to inquiries, and providing explanations as needed.
  • Proactively assess current accounting processes, procedures, and internal controls, and recommend improvements.
  • Lead or support implementation of process improvements and finance transformation initiatives.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams and other departments to support accurate reporting and operational efficiency.
  • Perform additional finance duties, special projects, and ad-hoc analysis as required.

You have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Commerce, or a related field.
  • CPA designation preferred.
  • Minimum5years of progressive accounting or finance experience, preferably in public company environment.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting requirements.
  • Experience with full-cycle accounting, month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
  • Experience reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, or work prepared by junior team members.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls, accounting processes, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with acquisitions, integrations, or finance process improvement initiatives is an asset.
  • Proficiency with accounting software, AI Tools and ERP systems preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
