Position Summary:

The Specialist Physician (Obstetrics & Gynaecology) is responsible for providing specialized medical and surgical services related to female reproductive health, including the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of pregnancy, childbirth, and gynaecological conditions. The Physician delivers care in outpatient clinical settings and, where authorized, hospital and surgical environments, in accordance with provincial legislation, College standards, and evidence-based medical practice. Possession of an additional subspecialty (e.g., Maternal-Fetal Medicine, REI, or Urogynaecology) is considered a significant asset.

What You'll Do:
  • Examine patients and obtain comprehensive medical histories to assess reproductive, obstetric, and general health status.
  • Diagnose and treat diseases, disorders, and conditions related to the female reproductive system and pregnancy.
  • Provide comprehensive prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum care to patients, including the management of high-risk pregnancies.
  • Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory investigations, ultrasounds, and colposcopy results.
  • Prescribe and administer medications and other therapeutic treatments in accordance with accepted medical practice.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment and follow-up plans for obstetric and gynaecological concerns.
  • Provide specialist consultations and medical opinions to referring physicians and other healthcare professionals.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic surgical procedures, such as laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, and caesarean sections, where credentialed and authorized.
  • Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans or surgical interventions as required.
  • Maintain complete and accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with legal, regulatory, and professional standards.
  • Educate patients and families regarding reproductive health, pregnancy management, surgical risks, and preventive care.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, including midwives, nursing staff, neonatologists, and other surgical specialists.
  • Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards of the provincial College of Physicians and Surgeons.
  • Participate in quality assurance, peer review, and continuing professional development activities.

You have:
