Senior AccountantCompensation: $85,000 - $100,000Position Summary:The Senior Accountant is responsible for key accounting activities, including lease accounting under ASC 842, balance sheet ownership, month-end and quarter-end close, sales tax compliance, account reconciliations, variance analysis, financial reporting support, and process improvement. This role partners cross-functionally with Accounting, Accounts Payable, and business teams to ensure transactions are recorded accurately, reconciliations are completed timely, and accounting processes support strong internal controls and scalable growth.
Key Responsibilities:Lease Accounting- Set up and evaluate the accounting impact of new and modified lease contracts in accordance with ASC 842.
- Gather, verify, and input cross-functional data into the lease management tool.
- Own the month-end close process for lease accounting, including recording monthly lease journal entries and preparing reconciliations.
- Document the Company's assessment of lease treatment in accordance with GAAP.
- Work closely with the Accounts Payable team to reconcile and initiate lease payments, ensuring payments are processed completely, accurately, and timely.
General Accounting and Close- Own key areas of the financial statements as assigned, including account reconciliations, variance analysis, and resolution of discrepancies.
- Conduct detailed account analysis and perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing procedures.
- Actively participate in month-end and quarter-end close processes.
- Perform monthly and annual close responsibilities, including active participation in monthly variance analysis.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts regularly and prepare supporting documentation for external audits.
Reporting, Analysis, and Process Improvement- Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports, identifying trends and key drivers.
- Prepare ad hoc reports as needed to support routine reviews, accounting, and financial reporting needs.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting efficiency, and analysis through better use of systems and automation.
- Participate in special projects and support evolving business needs as the Company grows.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support department and Company objectives.
Sales Tax Compliance- Ensure timely and accurate filing of all sales tax returns.
- Manage sales tax audits by gathering and providing necessary information.
- Maintain current knowledge of sales tax laws and regulations.
- Maintain sales tax exemption certificates and records.
- Reconcile sales tax general ledger accounts.
Required Qualifications- 3-5 years of accounting experience.
- Experience with ASC 842 lease accounting required.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions.
